Hot Mess

Nadia. Red faced. Sweating. She didn’t want to face it. Xiao Mei angled her head in confusion. They both stood on the bridge.

It was strange seeing Nadia in a hot mess. Xiao Mei wondered if something had happened.

“Dude… You alright?” She said, chewing on some gum. Xiao Mei was beautiful with her long flowing black hair. Shiny. Her dark eyes. Adorable face.

Concern from her seemed strange. Nadia swallowed her pain. She couldn’t burden Xiao Mei with years of grief. She was perfect and unharmed.

“I’m alright… I just got emotional from a TV show I was watching…” Nadia said.

Xiao Mei narrowed her eyes, “Did you continue watching Carême without me?”

“I- I did…” Nadia lied.

Xiao Mei walked over and grabbed Nadia’s hand. She slapped it lightly.

“Bad Nadia… Now let’s go to yours and have fried chicken,” she said.

Xiao Mei had bought a massive bucket of crispy KFC which she held in her bag. She thought about Nadia cooking all the time and thought maybe she could help.

Nadia smiled, “Oh Xiao Mei… Thank you…” and then she broke out into tears and hugged her.

“Waa-“ Xiao Mei squeaked.

She raised an eyebrow. It must have been some emotional episode…
