Chapter 186 by The Other Guy The Other Guy

Open the letter and read it now or just wait and hope you can read it later.

They are still arguing so read it now

You break the seal and unfold the letter to see your fathers neat hand writing scratched on the parchment. Seeing that makes yours eyes water for a moment. You'd had so much happen over the last two weeks that you hadn't really had time to feel anything bigger than whatever was happening in the moment. You missed him. He lied and had people lie to you about your power but that didn't matter. You were looking at his hand writing and you just missed him.

Blinking away the tears you started reading.

'My son,

You are the most impressive person I have ever had the privilege of knowing. That you are my son fills me with more pride than I could ever express. I love you more deeply than I ever thought I could love since your mother passed. When Clare asked if she could travel to the capital to be with you I knew I had to send this letter. I had to tell you a truth I had been hiding from you since the day you were born.'

You blinked a few more tears away. When you left and he gave you her ring that was the most he had ever spoke about her.

'When she was pregnant with you she told you would be special and that I would need to raise you without her. Your mother was my life. When she passed I could barely think, everything that mattered in the world to me was gone. Her parting advice to raise you was all I had left of her.'

You swallowed around a dry mouth. You never even met your mother in this world but reading this was setting something inside you off.

'I hope I did a good job and would have made her proud of me. I know she would be proud of you. She would speak of the man you could become, she was also so happy when ever she did. I know she loved me but speaking of you filled her with a joy I could never inspire. When she told me that you couldn't learn of your power until you were ready I didn't understand.'

You cleared your thought as you read. Your mother was the one who wanted you to not understand your power?

'When you were a baby and destroyed a room with a tantrum I understood. I never wanted to lie to you. Every day you came back from a lesson and looked disappointed I wanted to tell you the truth but then that disappointment changed to determination and you kept going. I couldn't tell you, not just because it was your mother wish for you but because I knew if you knew you wouldn't have that same determination.'

You weren't so sure about that last part but you and your father had very different perspectives. To him you are a child, if a child knew they were exceptional they might slow down.

'I would like to tell you more about your mother when you are ready. She always said that you would be fine without her, that all you needed of her was her ring but now after all these year I have to disobey. She was magnificent and I would be a terrible father if I didn't share her life with you.'

You let out a shaky breath. You reached up to grab the ring around your neck. It had been around your neck since your father had given it to you, even if you weren't totally willing in that aspect. You would like to know more about your mother, and not just for the sake of the ring.

'As for Clare. I know you two were close, even if you were totally obvious to how you felt about each other. When the two of you were growing up together I knew she'd never leave your side. She was rather angry with me that I had sent her away for your birthday, when she got back and realised you had gone to the capital without she nearly started walking there that day. She was going to you no matter what I said and since I know you can't tell when someone likes you I presumed if she arrived you would take the letter and try to send her home. So she is going to be your attendant.'

You're a little surprised he was so onboard for Clare's plan but glad he was. You do feel the comment about your inability to identify if someone likes is... you look up at the two Anastasia look alikes, totally justified.

'I love you my son and try not to be too oblivious to Clare. She'd wait around for you but listen to the man who found the love of his life, don't waste time.'

He signed his name at the bottom and you smile. You could fly back home on the weekend, it would only take a day there and back and you'd have time to talk to him.

You fold the letter back up then look down. Your toga was finished and fitted to you, it was a little shorter and the lack of anything underneath it was distracting. "How did you do that?" You ask the pair who were packing up some supplies.

"Don't ask I am horrified that we are send you out in that." White said not looking at you. "Should have had more time, is a few minutes to fix everything so much to ask." She mumbled to herself.

"We will have the after party outfit ready for you much fast." Black said looking you up and down and sighing. "If Anastasia complains tell her we did the best we could."

You look at yourself in the mirror. It's short than the last toga you wore but honestly it looks a bit better. the folds look more natural and it hugs your upper half much more comfortably. "Thanks, you're both incredible." You say with a smile walking to the door.

"Careful or Anastasia won't be getting you back." Black said with a wink as she opened the door for you. Outside was Blue. She gave you a once over and looked at Black. Black shrugged. You really didn't see what they were unhappy about and were starting to think they were messing with you.

"Ana's waiting." Blue said turning on her heel and walking towards Anastasia's bedroom. Hopefully Clare is there as well.

What awaits you in the princess's bedroom?
