Chapter 183
by The Other Guy
Practial lessons for the freshly revitalised
Something the teacher was not expecting
When you and Edin arrive the other male students are chatting enthusiastically and throwing around some flashy magical lights. You and Edin take position at the edge of the group and catch snippets of the reason for enthusiasm. It's about women, a little about the party tonight but mostly about the women they want to take them to said party. There is even a bit of discussion about what degree you should put out for each noble rank that invites you. According them to them you might need have a wedding ceremony in the bedroom with you. Edin is giving you side eye waiting for you to tell him about what, or who, you are expecting.
When the teacher arrives he looks around the class. "You're all recovered?" He asked as the students began to gather in a clump around him. There were noises of agreement from the class. "All of you on the same day?" He sounded incredulous which suggested that this wasn't common. The chorus of agreement made him stutter a little. "O-ok then we will move on to the next lesson, the instant any of you starts to feel woozy put your hand up and sit down." He waved everyone into a circle. "Today is about magic control. Each of you will produce a sphere of blue in your right hand and pass it to the person on your right. If your sphere or the sphere that is passed to you breaks you stay in the circle if you hold both you leave."
Edin was on your left and you looking at your right you see a nervous looking guy staring at you. Well this is going to the be the first lesson you've had that might teach you something, or the first lesson in which you kill someone.
"Begin." The teacher called standing in the middle.
A glow came from everyone's right hand. Yours was brighter than everyone else and you tried to dim it down. See the problem with this is you need a fraction of your thumb nail to over imbue an iron sword a palm sized sphere didn't leave you with wiggle room.
"Pass." The teacher said.
You felt a tingle as Edin placed his into your hand and you were able to hold it pretty easily. The guy who was waiting for your sphere looked at your hand as you kept holding it. Then you let it dissipate and put up your hand. The teacher looked over at you. "You haven't recovered yet?" He asked looking over you.
"I thought I had but guess not." You say with a lopsided smile hoping he would just accept it.
he looked at your left hand and Edin's sphere in it. "Take a seat." He said before returning to the centre. Edin didn't join you so he mustn't have been able to hold the other person's sphere. "Begin." He said. You watched Edin and saw him pass off his sphere. The sphere he had been given grew duller then brighter. He held it for a while but it was wavering. When it went out it was moments before the teacher called and an end.
You looked at your own hand. You needed to get some idea of how to control your magical flow. Eighteen years of being called average had kinda ruined your magic muscle memory. Who knew not throwing a mountain would be hard than throwing a mountain.
Edin only needed one more shot to get it right. As you watched it seemed to be the guy handing the sphere over was the problem. When he passed his sphere he focused on the one coming in letting his sphere almost dissipate before Edin could touch it.
He walked over and sat next to you. When the last pair had succeed the teacher called everyone back and started again. You stepped out for fear blow up the guy who tried to hold your sphere. Edin had much better luck this time, both side of him had guys that knew what they were doing so he was out on the first round. Everyone was done quicker than last time and everyone got called back.
There were another four rounds before the end of class. By the end most of the guys were out on the first or second attempt.
"Excellent progress." The teacher said addressing the class. "Learning how to pass magic to someone will help your future wives recover after a hard day." There were some giggles from the guys and he shock his head. Waving for more attention. "For tonight, look after each other, the Ladies might be seeking more than you want to give so if you stay together and keep an eye on each other you'll be fine." The class made a sound of acknowledgement and the teacher looked about to say something else before shaking his head. "And don't drink too much." He left the training grounds as the guys started talking about the party.
The women began to arrive after their class and they immediately broke apart from their groups to swarm around the guys, pulling the guys groups apart with little effort and sitting them down in groups.
You look towards the Dorm building. You can't see the academy entrance from here so if Clare arrives she might wonder a bit before finding you. Or she'll go your room, you doubt she'll a problem with the door but she might be waiting for a bit unless you run over now to check.
"Christopher." Anastasia said sitting down next to you and hooking her elbow with yours. She did love this position, maybe it was because she couldn't hug you properly in public.
"Hello Your Highness." You say looking at her and away from the Dorms.
"After Stephanie's class I will take you to the estate to prepare you."
"Can he wear another toga?" Vatarie asked plunking down behind you and lean forward to stroke your shoulder. "He looked good in the toga."
"He'll wear what I deem appropriate." Anastasia said staring at her. Vatarie stared back and pulled you back moving her hands a little more possessively. "Lady Vatarie?" Anastasia asked, you could see her cheeks getting a little coloured at the sight but Vatarie backed off slightly.
"You know best Your Highness." Vatarie said. You were pretty sure you knew what the two had spoken about during their exhausted period. At some point you might want to talk to Anastasia about her making choices about what, and who, you are going to be doing with your private parts.
Stephanie's students start to gather on the sand and you join them. When Asune takes her spot next to you you looked at her expecting some sort of greeting but get nothing. Either you're internally fucking confused wish about her leaving you alone had come true or you'd done something to annoy her. You really hope it isn't the latter.
When Stephanie arrives she looks at her students then at the students in the stands then at you. "Fighting while exhausted is not something you cannot control." A wave of dread radiates off the students at that. The idea of being exhausted kinda kills the idea of a party tonight. "However, as you learned yesterday that doesn't mean you have no options. Running is always an option." She paused for a moment as a glimmer of hope appeared in the hearts of the women. "So if you can't do ten laps of the academy by the end of class you'll be exhausting yourself and doing three."
You all waited for a moment not sure if that was it. The academy wasn't big but with magic ten laps in more than an hour wasn't hard. Even without magic it wouldn't be hard.
"Waiting for something?" She asked with a raised eyebrow.
The twelve of you turned and started running. The group started as a line and no one was running very fast. When you got a quarter of the way around the academy the lesson became much clearer. Stephanie said running from a fight not jogging. So when she appeared and kicked Tweleve into the wall it became apparent. Stephanie jumped away after the attack and Tweleve was stunned shaking it off and as soon as she stood up.
As a group you started running properly. The second anyone slowed slightly Stephanie appeared to kick someone one. When you reached the gate you slowed down and looked around. Three slowed with you and looked around with you. "Ambush?" She asked.
You were confused for a moment and Stephanie's knee connected with your head. Unlike everyone else she hit you hard. Even with your normal level of magical sufision the hit made you stumble. When you recovered Stephanie was already gone and Three had started moving. Vatarie slowed to check on you but she wasn't attacked for it. "I'm fine." You said with a smile and kept running.
After the third lap only Vatarie, Anastasia and Three had been uninjuried. You had no doubt Vatarie could keep doing this for hours, Anastasia for about as long and Three who knows. But everyone else was getting tired. Stephanie was striking more and more often and the ones at the back were clearly starting to feel the weight of the running and the worry of being attacked.
You looked at Three and wondered if she would step up. Stephanie wanted her to be a leader but in this case there was no real reason for her to do so. Yesterday helping others helped herself but now it didn't matter. But her comment to you earlier. You moved to catch up to her. "Think she'll be less forgive when the others drop out?" If she wasn't helping becasue it didn't suit her interests obvious decision was to make it help her.
"We have an hour." She answered then sped up to move away from you. Guess you aren't going to have the easy way to do this.
You tried to think of another way to do this when the academy entrance came into view.
Is there a Clare shaped person awaiting your eyes?

Reborn into Calitian
You are reborn into another world of magic and fantasy. How you live is your choice, the consequences are as well.
The world of Calitian is a world of magic whose sentient inhabitants vary from human to decidedly not. You are rather unexpectedly reborn into this world however you do not get the expected god delivered spiel about said rebirth so you are on your own. This should be interesting.
