An awful morning

I wake up suddenly the scream having jolted me awake, my skin is clammy to the touch and the cool air wicks at my body. I can't help but notice I'm alone in the room still, my jealousy and bitterness rises as imagine Quinara lying with that elf in post coital bliss. I can see the early rays of sunlight filter through the shutters on the window creating a striped pattern across my chest. I contemplate trying to fall back asleep but I decide against it opting just to lie in the uncomfortable bed and wait for Quinara.

I wait for almost an hour before I hear the telltale floorboard creak from a large person ascending the stairs, sure enough I'm proven right as I hear the steps grow louder and then a key open the door. Quinara strides in placing her warhammer down carefully "oh hey runt, I didn't think you'd be awake" she says in a far too chipper tone. Her good mood only served to worsen mine, "you're in a good mood" I observe, "yeah I had a great night" she replies. Was she taunting me? Was this some perverse act of dominance? Here she was flaunting how great her night was to me, "oh that's nice" I say through gritted teeth, biting back my feelings.

"So where were you last night?" I ask her, "oh I needed to see someone it was important" she answers, my knuckles begin to turn white, she wasn't even hiding it. I half expected her to begin fawning over the details, given how bold she was being right now it seemed like the logical escalation. My tension doesn't go unnoticed as Quinara does ask "what's eating at you runt?" I shudder and restrain myself, "nothing just had a bad dream" I answer, now that wasn't a lie per se but it wasn't the whole truth. "You wanna talk about it?" I shake my head, "ok well when you do I'm here for you" she reassures me but I begin to wonder if there's any truth to that reassurance.

"Anyway I don't know about you but I'm starved" she says with a grin, I really didn't have an appetite right now but I still get ready to leave with her. I knew I should confront her about this before it eats me alive but I just didn't have the drive to do so right now.
