Chapter 35

What will he do?
What about Candace?
Candace had gotten dressed after Venessa had let her borrow some clothing. She had left in her work uniform, some of which had been damaged during their encounter but she had to return to work to possibly explain and also get some of her belongings back.
As she stepped outside, she was a little shocked that the sunlight didn't bother her. As a vampire, she half expected to burst into flames. The sun seemed a little brighter than she remembered, and realized why Venessa had given her sunglasses but it didn't hurt at all.

She had called an Uber to pick her up and bring her back to the cinema. She was wearing a black dress and heels that Venessa had given her. She had never worn anything like this before, never feeling confident enough to try, but as she looked at herself in the mirror, she felt sexier than she ever had before. Even the Uber driver kept checking her out.
As she arrived, it was late morning and the cinema had just opened. She walked In and glanced around before noticing Pete, the shift manager talking to one of her coworkers behind the concessions stand. He glanced up, noticing Candace, but had a shocked look on his face before he walked over.
"Hey, uh, we need to talk," he said nervously before inviting her into the office. "Okay, so Gavin is pissed at you. Apparently, you abandoned your shift last night and left without telling anyone?"
"Yeah, long story," she said with a smile as she sat across from him, noticing him trying not to stare at her legs.
"Was it an interesting story?" He asked before shaking his head. "Sorry. I Don't mean to stare. It's very unprofessional and I apologize, it's just...... I've never seen you dressed up like this before."
"Do you like it?" She said with a smile, unsure of what she was doing.
Pete wasn't a bad-looking guy, but like her, he wasn't very popular when he was in school and wasn't very confident either. He was shy and only got promoted to manager because of a lack of options, but as she looked him over she started to think that maybe, like her, he deserved a win for a change.
"So, am I fired?" She finally asked out of curiosity.
"I...... well, technically, it's job abandonment, but......"
"I'll take that as a yes."
"I'm so sorry, Cancace... I tried to talk him out of it when he called but......"
"It's fine, Pete. It's time for a new beginning for me anyway."
"Well, I'll miss you," he said as he stood up to shake her hand.
Candace stood up and instead of taking his hand, she walked over to the door. Peter put his hand down, feeling embarrassed, but instead of leaving, she locked the deadbolt and turned back to him with a smile on her face.
"You don't have to," she said with a sultry look in her eyes.
"Don't have to what?"
"Miss me," she said before she approached him.
Good day to be Pete
