An Unexpected Coffee

''Hey, you look like you need this''

John looked up to see officer Jane Kadera wearing an unexpectedly sympathetic look as she held out a coffee to him.

''Uh, thanks'' He reached out to take the coffee, but couldn't bring himself to make eye contact. He'd already seen her glaring at him like he was scum as they were taking him in.

''I'm sorry about earlier, I didn't realise you were... uh, well... I'm not trying to make your life harder, I swear. We just have to take these reports seriously''

He glances up at her, but still couldn't bring himself to make eye contact. ''Thanks'' He mumbled.

''Look, my cousin is transitioning, so I know how difficult it can be''

That instantly caught his attention and his shot her a look of confusion.

''Sorry, sorry'' She said, holding her hands up innocently ''I know it can be difficult...''

He grabbed his phone and opened the camera, looking at himself, or rather, herself. Though he was still as unkempt and sloppy as ever, you could make out just enough detail now to tell he wasn't a he anymore.

He felt one of his boobs through his shirt, unsettled by how much larger and softer they were than his previous 'moobs'

''I'm supposed to be a guy'' He said, quickly trying to get back to the app and select himself to generate a statement.

''Look I know you're probably going through some stuff, but I don't want to make you feel bad''

He tapped the screen and watched as a statement was generated

''John is in shock at the sight of how ugly a woman she is''

''Hey'' Jane snapped grabbing his phone from him. ''You don't need to be feeding yourself negative ideas like this, you're not ugly''
