Chapter 48 by Artican Artican

Who was it?

Violet, the wrestling fanatic

She was a young and lively woman with pale skin, contrastingly dark long hair and mesmerizingly deep blue eyes. Her ready smile seemed to brighten up the room and was almost infectious. She was wearing jeans and a wrestling t-shirt that hugged her frame, accentuating her well stacked rack.

“What about her?” Jen uttered to Sonya in a breathless whisper.

“Oh yeah… definitely…” Sonya nodded appreciatively.

“What are you two talking about?” Sam asked, darting her eyes between the two.

“Oh.. heh… We were girl watching,” Sonya explained, nodding the the attractive female in the distance..

Sam looked over to see who they were talking about. When she spotted who they were looking at, her eyes lit up with recognition. “Oh! That’s Violet!”

“Who?” Jen asked, unable to take her eyes off the alluring beauty.

“She’s Greg’s kid,” Sam said.

“Kid?!” Sonya asked with a raised eyebrow.

“Well, I guess she must be 18 now, maybe 19…” Sam realized. “I used to babysit her when she was younger. She’s way into wrestling, even back then!” Sam called out to the girl. “Hey! Vi!”

Jen held her breath as if being caught doing something naughty. She glance over to Sam who was looking at Violet, then over to Violet who seemed to only notice Sam.

Samantha? How’ve you been?” Violet smiled, walking up to the group.

“Great! You?”

“I’m pumped! Meido is fighting Sugar Rush tonight!” Violet replied, still not noticing the others with her former babysitter. “Have you seen her? She’s been hyping up a new finisher she plans to reveal in her match tonight!”

“No way! When did she say that?”

“Just now! She came out and called out Meido and then cut a promo calling for us to look out for what she calls the ‘Sugar Coma’! Then she went to the back.”

“Oh no! We missed it!” Sam bemoaned.

“Well, you’ll see her in the match for sure!” Violet said.

Sam checked the time on her phone and realized the show was starting soon. “Shoot, we’d better find seats before the good ones get taken!” she told the others. “Are you with your dad?” she asked Violet.

“Yeah, but we can catch up after the show!” Violet replied.

“Alright, see you then!” Sam waved, leading the others into the main hall where the show was taking place. Jen and Sonya politely nodded and waved as well even though they weren’t properly introduced. Violet smiled and nodded back at them causing Jen to feel her heart flutter.

The wrestling arena was really the gymnasium with a wrestling ring set up in the center and folding chairs set up around it. While there were many rows of seating, even now the seats were filling up fast, so Sam had made a good call to find spots. They picked a row midway down the aisle and settled in. They sat Sam, Jen, then Sonya.

The place was abuzz with anticipation for the show, but Jen’s mind was still stuck on one thing. She saw the subject of her thoughts come in with her dad and his friends. They took their seats across the ring from the trio so that Jen could see her face during the show.

The opening match was a fast paced affair between two young wrestlers. Sonya and Sam were all into it, cheering at the high flying moves. Across the ring, Violet was just as enthused. Her face flared up when the bad guy tried to use the ropes for leverage during a pin attempt. When an over the top rope maneuver launched the wrestlers into the crowd, Violet was on her feet cheering and jeering over them along with the rest of her group. She even handed her drink over to her guy to smash over his opponent’s face.

“So… that’s Violet, huh? … she seems really into the show!” Jen said to Sam, after watching the girl in question. “Would she be interested in wrestling herself?”

“Vi?” Sam asked, taken aback by the idea. “I mean, I don’t know about pro wrestling, but OUR kind of wrestling… I don’t think so.” She shook her head with a chuckle. “She’s definitely into boys. She seemed to go through a crush every term.”

“That doesn’t mean she wouldn’t be open to expanding her horizons,” Sonya pointed out.

“True…” Sam agreed. “But that’s Greg’s daughter. It would just be weird…”

“For you maybe. I can think of someone who wouldn’t mind having a go…” Sonya said, catching Sam’s eyes and directing them towards their mutual friend. Jen could feel the stares and slunk down in her chair.

“I mean… she’s pretty… and she’s an adult…” Jen reasoned.

“You can give it a shot,” Sam shrugged. “Just don’t mention any involvement with me. I would rather not have my coworkers know what I do for a hobby!”

“She never told me where she worked until today,” Jen explained to Sonya.

“Ah haha… I guess we all have our secrets!” Sonya laughed.

The match wrapped up with the hero triumphing over the villain and an uproarious applause from the crowd.

After the audience was hyped up by the opener, they were treated to a hard hitting tag match between two brutes and two ring technicians. It was a clash of styles as the brutes were outmaneuvered by the smaller, more agile wrestlers, not being able to get a move in while taking drop kicks and body splashes until finally, one of the technicians slipped up and got caught by a brute. He ate a big body slam that shook the ring and then suffered a double teaming while his partner desperately tried to will him to their corner for a tag. He got the crowd going, clapping to liven up his teammate.

Jen watched as Violet urged the man back to his feet, starting a chant to revive him. Soon the entire crowd was chanting for him too, even Jen joined in, if only because Violet was doing it. The chanting gave the man enough motivation to make a last ditch leap, hand outstretched, tagging in his partner. The crowd popped huge as the fresh man took it to the brutes. He staved off one while punishing the other, then tagged in his partner again for their double team. With the momentum on their side, they hit their move and made the pin for a 3 count. The audience erupted but Jen only perceived Violet’s overjoyed reaction, jumping for joy at her team succeeding.

The next match introduced Bonnie’s friend, Meido No Tetsujin. Her Jpop styled music blasted on the speakers and she came out wearing a maid themed outfit that was tailored to wrestle in. There were cheers for her as she greeted the crowd like a Japanese Idol.

Next up, came Sugar Rush. Her music was frenetic and energized as she was pronounced by a puff of white confetti to resemble an explosion of sugar. Sugar Rush came running through the cloud, amped and ready to go!

“Hey… isn’t that…?” Sonya wondered aloud to Jen.

On the other side, Sam was tugging at Jen’s arm. “You recognize her? Huh? Huh?”

Jen took her attention off Violet for a moment and directed it towards Sugar Rush. She did look familiar. Under that body glitter, confetti and frosted wig, it suddenly clicked. “Is that… Sera Tonin?!”

“It IS!” Sam said giddily, shaking Jen’s arm excitedly.

“Oh my God! It IS!” Sonya confirmed. She slowly shook her head in disbelief.

“Apparently she’s been running the indies almost as long as she’s been working WSW!” Sam revealed.

“How is she not exposed?” Sonya wondered.

“She’s asked fans to keep it quiet. So far, so good,” Sam said.

Watching one of the Women’s Submission Wrestling up-and-comers go at it in a pro wrestling ring was enough of a distraction to keep Jen’s attention from the girl across the ring. Meido and Sugar showed off a lot of athleticism, trading holds and pin attempts to start off.

“Doesn’t it feel kind of off watching her here?” Sonya murmured to others. “Like, she’s wearing TOO much clothes.”

“Heh, yeah, it’s almost like she’s someone else,” Sam agreed. “Until she does stuff like that!”

“Oh yeah, signature Sera! The headlock takeover!” Sonya agreed.

Their match looked smooth and well paced with several times that the crowd almost bought into the nearfall. Finally, Sugar called for her final blow. The Sugar Coma turned out to be where she took Meido over her shoulders and then spun her in place with the crowd counting upwards of ten before finally slamming her to the mat. She dazedly landed on top for the pin and the win!

Once the ladies match was finished, the show announced there would be an intermission before the final matches.

“Hey, want to head back and meet Sera in person? My friend Bonnie can get us in!” Sam offered the others.

“Oh yeah! I’d love to!” Sonya said. She turned to Jen for her answer.

Jen watched Violet get up and head towards the concessions area. She thought about meeting up with the raven haired beauty, then thought about freezing up in front of her and embarrassing herself. At least Sam and Sonya would be with her if she went to meet Sera Tonin.

Where does Jen go?
