Chapter 2 by fleekwoodmac fleekwoodmac

How does our story begin?

Mia's Special Day

Mia pulled the plug on her tub. She took the final sip of her wine and blew out a candle. The last remaining light was a candle by the sink on the other side of the shower curtain. She focused on balance in the dark while she carefully stood up. She splashed some water on herself to rinse the last few remaining bubbles off her body. She fumbled around through the curtain to her towel rack. Her heart raced as she felt bare wall.

Without a towel, Mia imagined herself tiptoeing through the living room to sneak back to her room in the buff, needing to pass her roommate Lucy’s constantly open door on the way.

Mia shuddered at the thought. Not in a million years would she be caught dead streaking to her room, and especially not by Lucy, her archrival nemesis of a roommate.

Things started out friendly enough for the duo at the outset of their living arrangements. But months and months of arguments over dishes, fridge space, bathroom cleanliness, and other minor disagreements have fostered a growing animosity. A massive rift has grown between the pair, and they haven’t exchanged more than a few sentences in the last day or two. Mia considered kicking her out, but didn’t want to cause a big fuss and knew Lucy definitely wouldn’t leave without a fight.

Lucy spends all day in her room tip tapping away on her phone or her computer or her Nintendo Switch, constantly watching over the kitchen and living room, both of which are in full view of Lucy’s door.

Mia is a young ambitious businesswoman who works hard and then keeps to herself at home most of the time. So, an extroverted lazy nerd who silently judges you as you watch reality shows in your precious free time, who only talks to you when there’s beef over kitchen shelfspace? Not exactly the kind of roommate Mia envisioned when she dreamed of finding her own place away from her parents.

Mia breathed a sigh of relief as she opened the curtain to find her towel sitting on the toilet. She leaned out and grabbed it before drying off and tightly wrapped it around herself. She grabbed her empty wine glass, blew out the final candle, and scampered back across the living room to get dressed. Lucy was facing Mia sitting on her bed with her eyes glued to her laptop.

Ding dong.

Mia nearly jumped out of both her skin and her towel, barely managing to catch the latter before being rendered naked in the middle of her two bed one bath house. She held the towel tight with it draping down her front. Her back and butt were totally bare to the empty living room, but in front she looked relatively normal to Lucy and the front door.

With the empty wine glass held in one hand, Mia struggled to whip her towel around over her butt, unable to actually catch it on the other side while holding up the front with her other hand.

In the thin window next to the door, Mia saw a silhouette cup their hands to try and peek through the curtains. She couldn’t tell who it was but she wasn’t about to give the mailman a show!

“Hey can you get that?” called Lucy, not even looking up at her half exposed roommate.

“No.I’vegottagogetdressed!” squeaked Mia as she scurried out of view. Lucy made eye contact at the last second, and groaned before dragging her feet toward the front door.

Mia shut her bedroom door and caught her breath after that close call. She placed her empty glass on her dresser, wrapped her towel around herself properly, and picked out an outfit for staying in on her special day. Soft cream-colored leggings, comfy salmon-colored short shorts with a drawstring, a loose white T-shirt with Mickey Mouse on it, and her comfiest pair of panties. She wasn’t gonna let the judgemental gaze of Lucy **** her into wearing a bra today of all days!

Mia played her favorite song on her phone, dropped her towel, and began brushing her wet hair while striking a few poses in the buff in front of her full body mirror. She softly sang along into her brush microphone, and tried to keep her volume low so Lucy wouldn’t judge her for her normie music taste. “Ah puh tah puh tuh… Ah puh tah puh tuh… Ah puh tah puh tuh… Uh… Uh huh uh huh.

Normally Mia might bashfully lip sync to headphones, but it was a special occasion and she was tired of letting Lucy ruin her good mood, so this time she made the brazen display of quietly mumbling along to her soft music!

A few songs later, her mostly dry medium-length blonde hair was knot free, and her tall, athletic body was now covered in her chosen outfit.

Lately Mia has been busy at work on a big project, but the boss told her to take it easy at home this weekend, and Monday was a holiday, so a long-awaited three day weekend filled with trash TV awaited her.

Mia looked at her phone, checked her socials, and saw several pics of her friends having fun on a camping trip. For a moment she remembered what others had forgotten and got a little emotional, but she was determined to enjoy her day today, so she pushed those feelings down.

Mia completed her comfy ensemble with a pair of bunny slippers, grabbed her phone and empty wine glass, and set out for the living room to binge some reality shows

As she passed Lucy’s room, with renewed pep in her step, she leaned in to ask what the doorbell was about, trying to keep things civil and extend an olive branch. “So was it a package or something?” asked Mia with the friendliest smile she could muster.

“Something like that…” said Lucy. She looked up from her laptop to give her cryptic answer.

“Was it for me?” asked Mia, a bit miffed by the non-answer.

“It’s a secret.” answered Lucy without even looking up.

Mia furrowed her brow and turned around, her annoyance renewed. Her bunny slippers slipped their way to the kitchen to refill her wine glass while she internally fumed. Making her way around the island and past the dining room table, she beelined for the couch.

“SUUUURPRIIIISE!!!!”

Mia’s two best friends in the world leapt out from behind the couch, nearly giving the blonde a heart attack. Mia almost jumped through the ceiling and spilled half of her wine.

Who are these two and what are they doing here?
