Chapter 76 by Artican Artican

How does the first club meeting go?

Forming Olympia College’s Women’s Wrestling Club

“Hello! Is everyone here?” Monica asked as she walked into the conference room. It was in the same building as her clinic which made it easy to get to so she was surprised to see people already waiting for her.

“Not yet, we’re still waiting for Sonya,” Jen told her. She was seated beside the head of the table with her short haired friend next to her and the brunette with the green streak sitting across.

It looked like they were expecting Monica to take the center seat. “Ah, OK,” she replied as she sat, checking the clock. “We’re not scheduled to start for another five minutes anyways, I guess we’ll just sit tight until she arrives… In the meantime, why don’t we introduce yourselves? I’m Monica, a resident therapist at the school fitness center. And, if things work out, I’ll be the group advisor for the Women’s Wrestling Club.”

“I’m Elsa, I’ve seen you around before,” Elsa replied.

“Of course! I recognize that hair,” Monica smiled. “Lifeguard, right?”

“Thet’s right!” Elsa grinned.

“Nice to put a name to the face,” Monica said.

“I’m Sam, I’m a friend of Jen’s,” Sam added. “You wouldn’t know me, I don’t actually go here..”

“Well, it’s good to meet you, Sam” Monica greeted. “And I know Jen already, so I guess that’s that! I don’t really want to go over everything until everyone is here!” She pulled out her phone, “I’m sorry, just need to check up on something…”

The room went silent as they waited for the final arrival. Monica was browsing her phone as Sam and Elsa stole glances at her. The physical therapist was painfully aware of their curious looks, but wasn’t sure why she was getting them. She made a discrete check on her clothes in case there was a stain on them, then idly fixed her hair. Her eyes darted back and forth between the green streaked brunette and the short haired girl. It was starting to bug her. She wondered what they were so antsy about. She then glanced over at Jen who was beaming disciplinary glares at her two friends. It suddenly clicked for her. Monica sighed softly and leaned back in her chair, gazing over at the two gawkers.

“I take it that Jen has told you all about my wrestling history?” she said.

Elsa and Sam both shirked up in unison as if they were being called on to speak to the class.

“Ah… Yes, ma’am…” Sam admitted.

Monica blushed as she went down to the obvious conclusion. “Then I take it you’ve looked up the old videos as well…”

All three of the wrestlers shrank down guiltily in their seats.

“Yeah… we did…” Jen spoke for the group.

Now that the cat was out of the bag, the silence became even more awkward.

“You were really good though!” Jen added.

Being the authority figure, it wasn’t the best first impression to be seen as an active participant of a salacious wrestling video. Monica had to say something.

“Oh, it’s not like I’m ashamed about it,” she cleared up. “It’s something I did when I was younger and I’m happy I did. And since you’ve all seen it now, I guess I don’t have to hide it.” She smirked and added, “Besides, I’m going to see all of you in that way soon, aren’t I?

It was the rest of the group’s turn to redden their cheeks. There were some shy giggles as everyone seemed to loosen up again. Elsa looked at Jen and Sam and grinned. Sam looked over at the others as well while Jen looked off introspectively. She remembered a time when this sort of situation would have frozen her with self doubt and embarrassment, but now she could only feel the flutter of anticipation. They had gradually become an intimate community of friends.

Samantha eyes returned to Monica and she couldn’t stop staring, causing the therapist to clear her throat. Realizing she was ogling too long, Sam sheepishly looked away. The masseuse lightly chuckled at the young woman’s bashfulness. ”I don’t mind the looks, but don’t make it so obvious,” she teased.

“Actually,” Sam interjected. “I wasn’t looking because of that… well, maybe a little…” she stole another glance at the slender brunette’s body. “I was actually thinking about your match with Leah Piper…”

“Ah, which one? She and I went at it a few times!” Monica reminisced with a warm smile.

“The first one. I mean, we watched that one before we…” Sam stopped short when Elsa nudged her again.”Anyways, I’m amazed you went toe to toe against one of the best! What was it like?”

“Oh, she is a true master of the sport! Knows the ins and outs of any move you throw at her!” Monica gushed. “And you couldn’t meet a nicer person! Maybe I could introduce you one day!”

Sam’s eyes lit up. “Really?!”

“Oh yeah! We’re old friends!” Monica nodded. “Plus, she’d be interested in meeting new prospects for the league!”

“Oh!” Samantha gasped. “Then I can’t meet her yet! I have to get better first!”

“If you wanted to wait until you were better than me, we’d be done and graduated by the time we had a match!!” Sonya remarked, entering the room.

“Ah, she’s here!” Jen proclaimed as Sam shot a dirty look at her rival.

“I wasn’t talking about you,” Sam murmured to the runner. “I’m already better than you!”

“Maybe at bending over…” Sonya smirked before Jen got between them and continued her introductions.

“Monica, this is Sonya,” Jen said.

“Oh… I didn’t know that you wrestled…” Monica murmured, recognizing the athletic blonde.

“Yeah! Just started out, but I’m improving every time!”

“Not enough to get a win yet,” Sam chuckled.

“That’s because we haven’t gone one on one yet…” Sonya seethed.

“Don’t hog me all to yourself, you’ll have to share with Elsa first,” Sam continued to goad.

“Don’t worry, partner, she can’t handle the both of us at once!” Elsa grinned menacingly at Sam.

“It’s nice you all have a healthy rivalry going on here, but let’s save the trash talk for after the meeting, shall we?” Monica said, taking charge of the conversation.

The rest of the meeting went over the requirements for applying to become a school club. They were informed of the rules of conduct and all the administrative duties which Jennifer noted down meticulously in her notebook. Monica scheduled the weekly practices for Friday nights at the wrestling gym, so they would all have to make room in their schedule for that. Since it was at night, they would be able to stay as late as they wanted because it was a weekend. That meant that after the main practice was over, they could go into submission practice and matches. This perked the wrestlers up.

“Is thet when we’ll be doing our tag metch?” Elsa asked.

“If things work out without a hitch, we can get the tag match going this Friday,” Monica affirmed.

The others looked at each other excitedly.

“But, I will point out, because this is important: No one talks about the submission wrestling to anyone outside this room, got it?” Monica said. “If this got out, we’d lose the club and I’m for sure fired.”

“What if we find someone that would be good for the club?” Sam asked.

“Then bring her into the regular club and we’ll assess from there,” Monica told her. “No mention about anything more than wrestling until we know they’re a good fit.”

Everyone nodded in agreement.

“It should also go without saying that my submission wrestling history should not be a topic for discussion either,” Monica added. They nodded again. “Good. So, Jen has all the important information, once she gets that filed in we wait and see if we have a club! If you have any questions or concerns, you know where to contact me!”

The group disbanded and Jen got the paperwork handed in the next day. Monica sent an email to all the members later in the day informing them that the Olympia College Women’s Wrestling Club would have their very first wrestling meet on Friday.

How does the wrestling meet go?
