Colder shores
Velas woke to the sharp bite of northern winds and the crash of waves against jagged rocks. Cold and damp, he pushed himself upright, brushing gritty sand from his arms. Memories flooded back: Nerea’s haunting song, the pull of the depths, the warmth of her hand drawing him closer, and the heat of her sex as they made love beneath the waves.
He looked to his left and locked eyes with Nerea, who was lying on her stomach and regarding him. Her skin looked to be a much lighter blue in the morning sun than it had at night under the waves, or even in the tropical sunset in his vision. Patches of it looked almost like human skin right now. Was that just a trick of the light, or could merfolk skin change its hue?

Vel smiled at her, and she returned it in kind, an answering smile replacing her absent-minded expression.
“Were you watching me sleep?”
It was difficult to tell with her unfamiliar complexion, but Vel thought he saw Nerea blush. Her smile never wavered though as the beautiful mermaid rested her chin on her arms.
“I was. You’re… intriguing. Not just to watch.”
Her gaze lingered on his bare skin; her voice thoughtful now.
“The northern winds bite even me when I’m out of the water. But you do not even appear to be cold. Is this because you are The Promised One?”
Velas shrugged and chuckled
“I am not sure, though I assume it must be.”
It was only now that Vel consciously realized that he hadn’t spoken out loud, and neither had his newfound wife. This conversation was happening mentally, as easily as if they’d been doing it for years.
“Promised One. You called me that last night as well and I assumed it meant something like betrothed, but it doesn’t, does it? It is what your kind call me, who and what I am.”
Nerea nodded, her smile, which had begun to fade, returned in full ****. Vel saw pride, gratitude, and joy blooming in her mind, mixed with a tinge of disbelief. Her emotions looked exactly like those of a human, nothing alien about it.
“You are the one that the Great Father told us would someday come, the one who will restore this world to its rightful order. It was apparent to all in my shoal, your mind was like a beacon we could see even from a mile away.”
She blushed again and looked aside.
“I still cannot believe you chose me. I am just me, surely, I am not worthy.”
Ah, that explained that potent mix of emotions he witnessed in her. The pride and joy and that hint of something fragile underneath it.
“Nerea,” he said softly, leaning toward her, “if I chose you, then you are worthy. Let me be the judge of that.”
Her eyes met his again, and Vel pulled her into a passionate kiss. Her tongue, salty yet sweet, darted forward to meet his own.
When they pulled apart, a question practically burst out of Nerea.
“I am with child, am I not? That is what our dream meant.”
Velas rested his forehead against hers and gently stroked her hair.
“It does, my love. You are carrying our little Niela now.”
His smile faded and his tone, if that was even the right word when the whole conversation as taking place without sound, grew more serious.
“But the future we saw, it is not set in stone. It is a possible one, but not guaranteed to come to pass. I am not the first of my kind, and those who came before all failed.”
He saw some distress and fear appear in Nerea’s mind and tried to put it to rest.
“I will do everything in my power though, and I mean everything, to make sure the bliss we witnessed comes to pass. I have achieved such marvels already; I have no doubt that I am up to the task.”
He made sure she could see that he meant what he had said, and that she could witness his boundless confidence, which in truth surprised even him a bit. It clearly worked, as her emotions calmed, and the happy ones took over again.
“I have no doubt that you can make it happen, Promised One.”
With a smile she pulled her head back from his and rolled one her back, then looked up at him as she stroked her abdomen.
“I already love her so much; I can scarcely believe it. Thank you for choosing me, my love. Thank you for deeming me worthy and for this blessing. I swear I shall do everything in my power to prove worthy and not fail you.”
Vel leaned down and they shared another passionate kiss. With him now aware that their conversation was happening telepathically, they didn’t need to break it to keep talking either.
“I have no doubt that you will prove yourself worthy many times over. I am the heir of this world’s one true god, and I know you are meant to be mine.”
Those words again created an explosion of love, joy, pride and so on in her mind. There was a new extremely strong emotion alongside it all though. Arousal. Velas calling her his had made his newest wife extremely horny. He would help her deal with that in just a moment, he just had one last question, or perhaps a few last ones.
He gently broke the kiss, knowing he didn’t have to, but wanting to meet her eyes again.
“Your mind, your emotions, they are so like those of a human. Yet you are not human, that much is evident. I have met elves, and their minds are so very different from ours. Clearly you are creations of The Unbound, not the traitorous others, but is that all there is too it? I cannot help but feel like there is more.”
Nerea seemed impressed by something he had just said.
“You are wise and perceptive, Love. Perhaps that should not surprise me, considering.”
Nerea's gaze grew distant, her expression thoughtful as she gathered her thoughts, then began to share the story of her people.
"The Great Father," she began softly, her words wrapping around Velas' mind like a gentle tide, "created us from humans, changing us so that we could thrive beneath the waves. We were not meant to be like those who walk the land, but to live in the deep, hidden away. Our purpose, we are told, is to wait. Wait for the one who would come. the Promised One, the one who will restore the balance and the rightful order of things."
Velas listened intently, the truth of her words seeming to echo in his mind, but there was still a question left.
"You say this Great Father created your people, changed them for some purpose," he said, his mind mental voice thoughtful as his mind worked. "But what exactly was that purpose? To fight in the ancient war, or to guard something beneath the waves?"
Nerea’s eyes flickered with a trace of something resembling uncertainty.
"We do not know, truly. The Great Father did not reveal everything. Perhaps it was to fight the other gods, or perhaps there is something beneath the oceans that must be guarded. But we were told, long ago, that we are to serve the Promised One when they arrive."
She stroked her abdomen gently, the thought of their child making her smile, but there was also a deep reverence in her eyes now.
"That is why we exist," she continued, the reverence turning to certainty, "to wait for the one who will come and restore the world. To serve them. And you, my love and master, are the one we were waiting for. You are the one I and all of my kind are destined to serve."
Vel gently cupped her cheek and gave her a peck on her forehead.
“You certainly have served me well so far.”
That clearly pleased her greatly and she smiled once again.
“And I know of another way you can serve me right now, one that you too will enjoy greatly.”
She blushed as she felt the meaning of his words as much as she understood them, Vel letting her see his own arousal.
“We have made love in your world, beneath the waves. Now let us do it in mine, here on land. You’re already in the perfect position.”
Her arousal grew again, and this time Vel could see the patches of scale that hid and protected her sex slide aside and reveal her tight wetness. She was ready for him.
As he turned and put himself above her on all fours, he beheld love and worship in her eyes, as well as excited impatience. She wanted him inside her again, craved him. He was only too happy to oblige, both moaning as he slid inside her blazing hot pussy again
