What's next?
To the Church...
"This isn't the way to church," Elizabeth protested.
"We ain't going to cracker church anymore," Moses said frankly, pulling off onto MLK.
"Oh?" Elizabeth said, frowning as they started driving into the ghetto.
"Mmmhm. Going to get that spirit into you and the kids," Moses said. "Going to take you to Black church."
It was a revelatory experience for Elizabeth. The church she'd been to before was ... staid. Upper crust. Traditional. But this ... people were dancing in the aisles. People were singing, using their entire chest and body and getting into it. Afterwards, Elizabeth had a sheen of sweat on her brow.
"Baby," Moses said as they exited. "I want you to meet Father Abe."
"A pleasure, Father Abe," Elizabeth said, curtsying. "The children and I had a wonderful time."
"Well, always glad to welcome more to our flock," Abe said, smiling genially. But behind it, Elizabeth thought she recognized a lecher. She bet, in an alternative world, he'd probably want to bang her brains out.
