In a world with highly advanced biomedical technology, many seemingly insurmountable problems have been successfully resolved.

It was another Saturday morning when Evan Lee (29) once again called his wife, Hannah Moore (28), but as usual, nobody answered.

Hannah served as a supervisor for a project named "Extra Partner," which was organized by an international laboratory. In each experiment, there would be a host and an extra partner. A neural shunt device would be implanted above the host's first lumbar vertebra, and the extra partner's head, neck, and all thoracic vertebrae would be removed. They would then be connected to the host's spine via the neural shunt device, allowing the host and extra partner to share the host's entire body.

Typically, control was split with the host having 51% and the extra partner having 49%.

The experiment was divided into three time frames: seven days, one month, and irregularly (depending on the experiment's progress). And the rewards for the experiment were extremely generous, an astonishing sum.

For Evan, the current issue was that Hannah was excessively engrossed in her experimental project, even turning into a workaholic, as she hadn't been home for almost ten days.

However, at noon, while Evan was boredly browsing the web, he finally received a message from Hannah, a short message stating that she would be coming home that night.

After hesitating for a moment, Evan dialed Hannah's video call again. She didn't drive; since getting her driver's license, she had hardly touched the steering wheel. Evan thought maybe he needed to pick his wife up today.

He originally expected the call to be hung up again, but to his surprise, the call went through.

The screen of his phone displayed the view from Hannah's side, with drawn curtains making it dimly lit, but Evan could make out that it seemed to be someplace in the laboratory.

Hannah seemed out of breath, placing her phone on the table, appearing somewhat flustered. Her figure kept moving in front of the screen, with her collarbones at the top of the frame.

"Wait, Hannah? Why are you dressed like that?" Evan noticed Hannah's attire; she was only wearing a tight-fitting tube top that seemed a bit small, not very well-fitted, with her ample bosom spilling out, casually covered with a white lab coat.

"Hannah, the call is connected!" a stranger's voice reminded.

"Oh, okay, um..." Hannah paused in her actions but still didn't show her face. Then, Hannah's excited voice came through the phone, "Evan, darling, do you know? Our project has been a huge success!"

"Don't get too excited; it's just a phase of success..." another unfamiliar voice appeared on the other end.

"Yes, yes, but regardless, it's amazing! Almost a perfect success! We have even exceeded the original plan!" Hannah gasped, growing more and more excited.

"Um... so, are you coming home today? Need me to pick you up?" Evan rubbed his forehead, interrupting Hannah.

"Um... I think not. Just wait for me at home, babe! I have a surprise for you!" Hannah hesitated a bit but still refused Evan.

"Alright, we need..."

"Wait..."

"Hey!"

These were the last three sentences Evan heard before the video call was hastily ended, leaving Evan to reluctantly hang up the phone.

At six in the afternoon, Evan prepared dinner and waited for Hannah to come home, but when Hannah appeared at the door, Evan froze.
