Ethan dreams.

Of fire.{if Alex=true} Of Strawberries.{endif} Of familiar faces, with unfamiliar smiles. Of short blondes{if Layla=true} and tall ones{endif}.

Shifting, swirling, the dreams change, Ethan's subconscious being scraped raw.

He dreams of himself, walking down the lonely road into town, a low sun in the sky hot on his back. Shadows ahead of him obscure the way, but so long as he follows the road he knows he'll be okay.

Something in the distance shifts. Darkness swirls and takes a new form. Something looms over him. But before he can look up, before he can understand...

Ethan wakes.

Rubbing his eyes, he moans to himself. "Why can't I ever have a normal dream?"
