Before you could respond, Mrs. Geoff reached for a small paper bag that had been sitting on the side table. She handed it to you with a warm smile, her eyes twinkling with kindness. “This is your reward for yesterday, Alex. I hope you like it. Just a small token of my appreciation.”

Your heart skipped a beat, already having a good idea of what might be inside the bag. The memory of Mrs. Geoff’s playful suggestions from the day before flashed through your mind, and you felt a slight blush creeping up your cheeks. As you accepted the bag, you noticed Sarah’s curious gaze, her eyes lingering on the bag with interest.

Not wanting to draw too much attention, you quickly tucked the paper bag into your own bag, giving Mrs. Geoff a polite and grateful smile. “Thank you, Mrs. Geoff. You’re very kind,” you said, your voice steady despite the mix of emotions swirling inside you.

Mrs. Geoff chuckled softly, waving her hand dismissively as if to say it was nothing. “Oh, it’s the least I could do. You were such a big help, and I really appreciated it.”

Sarah, still smiling, turned to you with a playful look. “Well, now I’m curious about what’s inside,” she teased, but you could tell she was only half-serious.

You shook your head, trying to play it cool. “Just something small, I’m sure,” you replied, your tone light as you tried to steer the conversation away from the mysterious contents of the bag because you knew what it could be.

Sarah gave a small, knowing smile but didn’t press the issue. Instead, she led you upstairs to her room, where you could change out of the female office attire you had been wearing all day.
