Running Into A Friend Between Classes

My next class was in a different building across the campus, I had about 10 minutes to walk there, although it would probably take me just a couple minutes if I jogged there, but what was the hurry? I had to spend some of this precious time between classes to brainstorm what to dream of next. Honestly, I could keep affecting Professor Yasumi, but with so many beautiful women on campus, I need to keep my dreams open. Although, I wonder if I could dream with multiple targets, or try to have multiple dreams in a night?

I scratched my chin at the possibilities until something, no, someone interrupted my thoughts.
"Yumeo! Are you ignoring me!?" it was a high pitched, not entirely unpleasant voice that came from behind me to the left.

I turned around and saw a girl I was familiar with sitting on the fountain. She was staring at me with almost a look mixed of concern and confusion, with good reason. How could I walk past someone with such bright pink hair?

"You looked lost in thought Yumeo! Did you have something on your mind?" she asked, and brushed her bright hair to the side, still gazing at me.

"Oh, hey, Mirai, yeah, I guess I do." I smiled, and took a few backsteps towards her.

Mirai Yuki, she's been one of the few "girl" friends that Tojo and I have shared growing up. She's had a thing for having pink hair for as long as we could remember, and she chose the days she would wear glasses or not. Today it seemed she wasn't wearing them. She was mildly attractive, with no real assets to brag about, besides being kind. She was a very nice woman. Far nicer than my ex ever was...Despite being a good friend, I don't think I'd ever tell her about my dream power though. I think telling Tojo was enough.

"What are you doing sitting alone out here Mirai, don't you have a class to get to? I know you usually don't skip your first one, but maybe you decided to skip second one." I teased her, and sat down on the fountain.

"No, I'm not skipping, silly, I'm just taking a break. My last class was cancelled, and I figured I'd watch the clouds go by, maybe read a bit." She pulled a book out from her bag and waved it around a bit. It was "The Idiot" by Dostoyevsky. She was probably the only person at our school that would read something like that.

"How are things with you and that guy, what's his name, uh, Kenji?" I asked her, and she frowned, then sighed.

"We broke up last week. It didn't work out." She said, and stared down at the book.

"Aw, well, that sucks. Sorry to hear that."

"It's fine. He wasn't the one, that's all. There's no helping it." She shrugged, and put the book down, and leaned back on the fountain.

I was going to say something, but Mirai spoke up first. "What about you, Yumeo, how are things with you?"

"Me? Oh, I'm doing alright, nothing exciting happening." I told her.

"You're such a bad liar. Everyone knows you proposed to Makoto Ayaka and got dumped pretty hard. Don't tell me you're still moping about her, you need to get a rebound girlfriend or something!" She pouted, and punched my arm playfully. "C'mon Yumeo, you know I've loved you for a while."

"Mirai, c'mon, we've been through this. You're like a sister to me. We've got that big brother, little sister thing going on, you know?" I couldn't help but laugh, she always brings this up when I go through a break up. Honestly, I like our friendship exactly how it is, and I'm afraid it'd get destroyed if i ever dated her and ruined it like I always seem to do.

"Fine, I won't push, but you need to move on Yumeo. If you won't take me, take someone. Anyone." She frowned, and turned her head to the sky.

"I know, I'll find the right girl. Eventually. Just not ready yet, and besides, I don't have time for that right now. Gotta focus on graduating.

"Uh-huh, you're full of shit, but alright, I'll believe you." She turned to me, and grinned.
"I gotta get going, I've got a class soon. It was good talking to you Mirai." I hopped up and made my way towards my next class.

"See you later Yumeo, stay out of trouble!" She shouted, and I waved her off.
