Chapter 2
by Zebra
What traits do you have? Who are you?
One of the inhabitants of the Warren...
In this desolate landscape, where life had become an unforgiving battle against nature itself, emerged a peculiar group... a tribes of mutated rabbits.
The reasons for what happened are hidden in the darkness of the Universal Nuclear Catastrophe.
Radiation…
Accelerated mutation processes...
The impact of genetically modifying substances on the soil, atmosphere and hydrosphere...
However, the fact remains the same - in the vast wastelands, which were once inhabited only by representatives of the species homo sapiens, tribes of anthropomorphic rabbits-nomads now live.
The appearance of these creatures could shock any normal human who lived before nuclear war.
These mutants looked like strange anthropomorphic creatures of small stature (usually about 150 centimeters or slightly lower) with prehensile hands and humanoid fingers on the palms.
Skin covered with short rabbit fur.
Long rabbit ears, a large rabbit nose that has a developed sense of smell, and large eyes.
These creatures were not like any other living beings on earth; they possessed unique abilities that allowed them to thrive amidst the chaos. Their fur glowed with iridescent hues under the harsh sun, and their eyes held an uncanny intelligence that belied their small size. They lived deep within the heart of the radioactive wastes, far from human settlements or any semblance of civilization as it used to be.
Their society was structured around survival, cooperation being key to their existence. Each member played its role diligently – some scavenged for food while others guarded the territory fiercely. There were even those who could sense danger long before it arrived, thanks to heightened senses developed through generations of adapting to the toxic environment.
The leader of one of these tribes of rabbit-folk was a wise elder named Rynok, whose wisdom and strength kept the tribe united during times of hardship.
One day, a young rabbit named Zephyr stumbled upon something unusual in his travels... remnants of an ancient city buried beneath layers of sand and debris. Intrigued by this discovery, he brought word back to Rynok about what he had found. Seeing potential value in understanding more about humanity's past, they decided to send out a team led by Zephyr to explore further. Little did they know how much this journey would change everything they thought they knew…
As the brave group ventured deeper into the ruins, they discovered an abandoned subway station that seemed untouched by time. It was clear from its pristine condition that no one had set foot here for centuries. This place offered shelter from the harsh elements outside... a rare luxury in their desolate world. They realized immediately that this could be their new home; a safe haven where they could thrive without constantly being on guard against predators or environmental hazards.
With great effort, the tribe worked together to transform the old subway station into a comfortable living space which they named the Warren. The walls were lined with soft mosses collected from nearby caves, providing insulation against both heat and cold. Old wooden benches were repurposed as beds while discarded metal signs became makeshift tools and weapons. Even though life remained challenging within these confines, there was now some semblance of stability... something every member of the rabbit tribe valued deeply after years spent wandering through the barren wilderness.
Inside the Warren, Zephyr continued his studies about humanity's past using books he found at the ruined city's library. He shared what he learned with Rynok and others, sparking curiosity among them all. As knowledge spread throughout the community, it brought forth ideas for improving their way of life: cultivating plants hydroponically using water filtered from rainfall caught by improvised gutters along the ceiling, creating simple machines powered by hand cranks to ease laborious tasks… Slowly but surely, this once forgotten civilization began anew under the guidance of its wise leader and the tireless efforts of its inhabitants. And so, amidst the ruins of Earth, hope bloomed again in unexpected places... like a beacon shining brightly inside 'the Warren,' illuminating the path towards survival and prosperity for generations yet unborn.
