Dinner with the whole family

Whatever the emergency in town had been must have been sorted out by dinner. Not only was Dina present, but Lord Luthor was making one of his rare mealtime appearances. Vel didn’t really mind, but he wished he’d known ahead of time, so he could have left a load in at least one of his sisters or his mother. He had sadly missed that opportunity, but he was not going to miss the other one this dinner offered him.

Using fracture on Dina, he quickly reinforced his latest suggestions, all of which were fully accepted. It took very little out of him too, her mind was growing more malleable by the day. Time for some new ones. Vel is better than me ahorse and his crippled leg makes any fight on foot unfair, I must find some other way to test my strength against him and best him. That sank in with ease, he got the sense she had already half come to that conclusion, either on her own or because Jeane had started making good on her promise. We have only had one contest of strength and Vel soundly beat me. This cannot be allowed to remain so, I should challenge him soon. Again, acceptance. Vel considered adding more, his reserves were barely touched, but he really wasn’t sure what. The next step would be beating her, then he could do some more work. Onto his mother, then.

He reinforced the last suggestion he had made to Lady Rienne, and it was fully assimilated. Considering the nature of that one, he didn’t feel the need to make any more for now. Perhaps he never would again, she was fully his now. If the need for more arose, perhaps to make her accept his daughters as worthy, he would deal with that then.

The heir of Andros relaxed in his seat and did his best to enjoy dinner. It was delicious, his mother had made sure another one of her son’s favorites had been served today. Vel mostly tried to drone out his father’s prattle while focusing on his food, but something caught his ear. “And with the entourage being expected within a week or two now, we really couldn’t afford to let this kind of situation go unanswered. Imagine of the first elves to pass through these parts in gods know how long bore witness to that kind of unrest. They’d think we’re not capable of governing our own lands.” Vel met Adi’s eyes, which were as wide as his own no doubt were. The elves were expected soon.
