Stuck in her hometown

Things in Lauren's 20's hadn't gone well. First she'd had a humiliating, embarrassing year of exposure. At 20 all her secrets had been revealed and her reputation had been permanently changed. After that her life took a turn. Before she'd been on the fast track to success, planning to save up and leave her small town behind. After that experience she was no longer seriously, and as a laughingstock, she found her progress through life stalled.

All her aspirations failed, and after five years, Lauren was still stuck in her hometown. She couldn't escape her embarrassing history. People still brought up what happened to her five years ago, and to her utter humiliation she now had the nickname 'Little Lauren', despite being well into her adulthood. She wasn't as successful as she hoped, she never managed to get out of her hometown, and there seemed to be no escaping the past...
