"You heard me," John replied, a hint of steel in his voice. "I'm not saying I'm innocent. I know what I did was wrong, but your mom—she initiated it. She invited me over, she made the first move."

"That's bullshit," Michelle snapped, but her voice wavered. "You're just trying to cover your ass."

"Think about it, Michelle," John continued, his anger rising. "Why would I risk everything—my job, my future—for this? Your mom is the one with power here. She took advantage of the situation, of me."

Michelle shook her head, but doubt flickered in her eyes. "You expect me to believe that?"

"Believe what you want," John said, his tone hard. "But that's the truth. She knew what she was doing. She knew I wouldn't be able to resist, and she used that."

Michelle stared at him, her face a tumult of emotions. "If that's true, then why didn't you stop it? Why didn't you just walk away?"
