What will happen next?

Preparing for the Party

It was finally Friday, which meant that one week of their senior year of high school was done. Patrick was getting everything from his locker that he needed for the weekend when he felt someone walk up behind him. He turned around to see one of the co-captains of the cheer team standing behind him.

“Hey Sharon. What’s up?” Patrick asked.

“Well, I am assuming you are going to Bianca’s party tonight, right?” Sharon asked.

“Yeah, that's the plan.” Patrick said.

“Good. Pick me up at six. You’re going to be my date tonight.” Sharon said, leaving no room for discussion.

“You know I am not looking for a relationship right now, right?” Patrick asked.

“That’s a good thing. Neither am I. I just think we could have some fun together tonight.” Sharon said.

“Sounds good. I will pick you up at six then.” Patrick said.

“Don’t be late.” Sharon said.

“Doesn’t the party start at six though? Won’t we already be late?” Patrick asked.

“Not for me. I like to make an entrance and I can’t do that if not everyone is already there.” Sharon said.

“That makes sense. I will pick you up at six.” Patrick said.

“Great! I’ll see you then!” Sharon said excitedly as she left Patrick to go to her own locker.

Patrick just shook his head. He enjoyed spending time with Sharon. She was in his clique after all. The only problem that he ever has with her is that she can be rude at times and sometimes she doesn’t know how to act when she needs to be nice. Not that it really matters since she was hot and one of the most popular girls in school. Who was he to turn her down?

As he was walking down the hall to make his way out to the parking lot where his car was waiting for him, he felt someone come up from his side and wrap their arm around his shoulders. He couldn’t help but smile.

“Hey Maddie. How was your Friday?” Patrick asked.

“Not too bad. So, what were you talking to Sharon about?” Madison asked.

“Oh nothing much, except for the fact that she told me that I was going to be her date for the party tonight.” Patrick said and both of the friends chuckled.

“She never has been very subtle. She is always straight and to the point.” Madison said.

“Yeah, I know. There is something to be said for that though. At least you always know where she stands.” Patrick said.

“That’s true. So, I guess I will be seeing you at the party then?” Madison asked.

“Yeah. What are you going to tell your dad so that he lets you go?” Patrick asked.

“I am going to tell him that it is a Cheer/Dance team party and sleepover. He should be fine with that.” Madison said.

“I hope so. I will see you there.” Patrick said as he reached his car and turned to hug his best friends and then she went to find her brother so that she could go home as well.

. . .

It was about time to leave and pick Sharon up for the party when Patrick walked down the stairs dressed in a polo shirt and a pair of jeans. His mother, Josephine saw him come into the living room and couldn’t help but smile at him.

“You look nice. What are your plans for the night?” Josephine asked.

“Oh, Bianca is throwing a party, so I will be over there most of the night.” Patrick said.

“Sounds fun. Are you taking anyone or are you going by yourself?” Josephine asked.

“Sharon asked me to be her date.” Patrick said and he wasn’t going to let his mom know that Sharon hadn’t really asked him but told him that he was going to be her date.

“Well, look at you. Going to a party with one of the most beautiful girls in your school.” Josephine said with a wide smile.

“There isn’t anything to it mom. Neither of us are ready for a relationship. We are just going as friends.” Patrick said.

“That’s fine sweetie. I am just glad that you are broadening your horizons a bit. Right now is for you to have fun, so whatever you do just remember that. Maybe it is good that you aren’t in a relationship. It will allow you to get some experience with different girls.” Josephine said.

“Mom, did you just refer to what I think you did very criptically?” Patrick asked.

“There is nothing wrong with fooling around at your age. Just be safe.” Josephine said with a smirk after seeing Patrick blush.

“Mom, I really don’t want to have this conversation with you.” Patrick said, turning an even darker shade of red.

“There is nothing to be embarrassed about, son. Just go and have fun and let the night take you where it takes you.” Josephine said.

“I will try mom. I will see you in the morning since I will probably be late tonight getting home.” Patrick said, trying to change the subject and get out of there at the same time.

“See you tomorrow, sweetie.” Josephine said as Patrick left the house.

. . .

It didn’t take long at all for Patrick to pull up to Sharon’s house and make his way up to her front door. He had been to Sharon’s house many times over the years, so he knew all of the family pretty well. He knocked on the door and waited until someone answered it.

When the door opened, he saw that it was Sharon’s mother who answered. “Hello Patrick. You must be here for Sharon.” Mrs. Miller said.

“Yeah. We are heading to a party.” Patrick asked.

“Oh, Okay. You can come in and wait if you want.” Mrs. Miller asked.

“Thanks.” Patrick said and Mrs. Miller nodded.

As the two of them made their way into the living room, Sharon made her way down the steps and Patrick could keep his jaw from hitting the floor because of how beautiful his friend looked right now. Sharon couldn’t help but smirk her trademark smirk at Patrick.

“Don’t drool all over the floor, Pat.” Sharon said and that was enough for Patrick to snap out of his trance.

“I can’t help it. You look great.” Patrick said as he was still looking at his friend who was wearing a dark green sundress that hugged her body in all of the right places.

“Thanks. I am glad that you like it. It is all for you tonight.” Sharon said as she winked at him because she was really having fun seeing Patrick so flustered.

“Mom, I'm headed out to a party.” Sharon said as she turned to her mother.

"That's fine. See you later." Mrs. Miller said.

"Tomorrow morning." Sharon clarified and Mrs. Miller just nodded as Sharon turned to Patrick.

“Right. Shall we go then?” Patrick asked as she gave his arm to Sharon who wrapped hers around his and they made their way out to Patrick’s car and to the party.

. . .

As they were making their way to the party, the two teens were talking about nothing of any importance, but they were having fun and laughing at what was being said. As they got closer to the party, things turned more serious.

“So, what are your plans for the night?” Patrick asked.

“Oh you know, just have fun and see where the night takes us. I hope you don’t mind dancing.” Sharon said.

“I am not that good at it, but what a beautiful girl wants, she will get.” Patrick said with a smile and Sharon smiled back.

“So, you aren’t much of a dancer then? Don’t worry, I will give you some pointers.” Sharon said.

“Thanks. Any tips before we get there?” Patrick asked.

“Just go with my rhythm. If you do that, you will be fine.” Sharon said.

“Will you be grinding on me? I have never been that comfortable with that.” Patrick said.

“Are you not comfortable with it because you don’t think you can dance or for other reasons?” Sharon asked with a raised eyebrow.

“I think it is the other reason that really bothers me.” Patrick said, blushing a little bit.

“Don’t worry about that. If it gets out of hand, I have no problem with helping you out with that.” Sharon said as she smirked at Patrick who was blushing even more now.

“Thanks, I guess.” Patrick said.

“Tonight is going to be fun, Pat. Just go with the flow and everything will be okay.” Sharon said.

“I do have a question that is on a bit of another topic.” Patrick said.

“Ask away.” Sharon said.

“Why did you ask me to be your date? We haven’t done this before. Why now?” Patrick asked.

“Well, you are a good looking guy and I also heard about how some of the other girls in our group are helping you out with getting dating experience.” Sharon said.

“So, you are just doing this to help me out?” Patrick asked.

“There is that and the fact that I just said, you are a good looking guy and you treat girls right. Why wouldn’t I take advantage of that?” Sharon said.

“If you were interested in a relationship, would I even be an option?” Patrick asked.

“Of course you would be. You are a good friend and we have fun together for the most part. If I was ready for a relationship, you would be the perfect guy for that.” Sharon said.

“Thanks. Well, it looks like we are here. Let’s get to this party fashionably late.” Patrick said with a chuckle and Sharon could help but laugh as they both got out of the car and made their way to Bianca’s house so that they could start to party with the rest of their friends.
