2024 - Malmö - Eden Golan

For many people, this had been quite possibly the most controversial Eurovision to date. Mainly because of Israel’s entrant, Eden Golan. The common belief was that Israel shouldn’t be competing at Eurovision this year given everything that was going on involving them. But regardless, the EBU had allowed them to compete, which was widely considered to be a very bad move. Even more so was the fact that the Netherlands entrant, Joost Klein, had been disqualified due to a backstage incident that many believed had involved a KAN journalist harassing Joost about the **** of his parents.

Eden was backstage, watching as the props for her performance were being put in place for her semi-final performance. The crowd were already starting to jeer, which disheartened her, but she knew she had to perform regardless. So, with one deep breath, she steadied herself before stepping out onto the stage. She was instantly hit by the loud wave of booing, jeering and whistling hurled her way. “No, I can’t cry, I just need to get this done with” Eden told herself, trying as hard as she could to block the audience out. The lights dimmed and it was showtime.

As in rehearsals, her performance started really well. Her vocals were on key, she was in time with the backing track and nothing was wrong. Despite the heckling, it was going rather well for Eden. But the world seemed to have other ideas, and unbeknownst to her, the dress she was wearing began to loosen, slipping down and exposing the fact that she wasn’t wearing a bra. The audience couldn’t help but laugh, but she continued regardless.

She continued on, nailing her routine to a T, and all the while, her dress of fabric strips continued getting looser and looser until the whole top aloof her body was exposed. But it didn’t stop there. The lower half also began to unravel, revealing that she also wasn’t wearing any panties, which got an even louder laugh from the crowd as her natural beauty was slowly being exposed to millions around the world. The backing dancers had all noticed this by now, but there was nothing they could do about it.

Eventually, the final note was played, and the audience began their booing and jeering. She waved joyfully to the crowd, unaware that she was showing them more than just a smile. A cool breeze brushed across her body, which confused her. “What the- OH MY GOD!” Eden exclaimed loudly, turning her back to the crowd and covering herself with her hands. The audience were laughing at her now, which only made her feel more mortified. Phones were being held up, most likely recording what was happening. Eden let out a panicked gasp and rushed off stage, followed by her dancers. The dress she’d been wearing just lay there on the stage, abandoned. The Norway entry stepped out onto the stage, joking with each other about what they’d just seen. The lead singer of the band Gåte, Gunnhild Sundli, decided to take the discarded outfit and wrapped it around herself to make it a part of her own costume.
