Corrective Action, and Amy lost her game

Hurriedly, watching the time tick down, Jessica tapped on “Corrective Action”.

Impatiently, Jessica watched as the screen updated and she looked at the avatar in the corner to see what had changed. Confusedly, it didn’t seem like anything had changed, other than the virtual avatar seemed to be slightly more chipper than a moment ago. She tapped on the punishment in the list and read the description: “Whenever you get angry or intend to say something rude, you will instead respond positively and with a smile.” Ah, okay. Pervy Pat and his whole service with a smile statement is what led to me smiling at the customers but that would only work here at the restaurant and other places I “serve” at. This is going to be far more all-encompassing. Not…terrible, compared to the possible other options and it only expanded the existing requirements instead of potentially adding new ones, but it could mean some really bad encounters in public. I’ll have to be careful what situations I get into.

Jessica looked up as Amy headed out the door stating: “Look, you stay here. I’ll handle the tables. They’re almost out of here anyway.”

“No problem.” Jessica said, grinning as she attempted and failed to stop Amy from going out into the restaurant. “No, no, no!” Jessica whispered under her breath, in a falsely upbeat manner.

Her attention drawn to the app again due to the phone buzzing, Jessica watched as the screen immediately flashed new text: “Ohh..too bad! Your co-worker lost her game! Please click or tap on the wheel above for a round of !Punishment or Reward! to see if you get a choice of Punishments, or Rewards! Note: failure to click on the Punishment/Reward wheel and/or selecting one of the available Punishments or Rewards within 2 minutes will result in the wheel being spun for you with the chances of getting a punishment increasing to the next Punishment/Reward level and all 3 Punishments will be applied for each Punishment wheel spun by the app on your behalf”.

Jessica paled and muttered happily, no, Jessica told herself: I am angry! Jessica fought to mutter angrily at Amy again but once again, failed. Jessica sighed and winced as she read through the disclaimer again, hoping in vain that a second run-through would have a different result and realizing the futility of it, hurriedly tapped on the wheel with just under a minute left, watching as the wheel spun and spun, taking an agonizingly long time to finish.

Why does it take so long to spin? Jessica wondered to herself. Ah, she realized, if I don’t move quickly, it will reduce how much time I have available to have it spin and then select one of the options, which will result in even more punishments. Jessica watched the wheel take ten long seconds to stop.

New text appeared and the imp smiled at her: “Congratulations! You have three new punishments to pick from! We hope you enjoy our random selection of punishments for you!"

Jessica glared at the app as she pondered her choices and thought bitterly. Devious, sneaky, and mean. “I love developers like that”, she muttered. Jessica sighed again: I hate, hate, hate developers like that. Ha! Take that you bunch of…oh crap! She realized she was distracting herself and now had little time to pick from the three options: “Free Advertising”, “French Introduction”, and “Jail Break”.

Okay, quick twice-over:

“Free Advertising”: Probably advertising her body or something along those lines. But it could be standing on the street corner advertising the business-not likely. Jessica pinched the bridge of her nose and thought about the next one.

“French Introduction”: Kissing, definitely kissing, and giving them tongue and mouth kisses. No, definitely no. But, given the possibilities of the other two…

“Jail Break”: Things breaking free, maybe a get out of jail free card? That would be nice so that probably isn’t it. But hopefully, maybe?

Jessica had only a few seconds remaining to make her selection, so she tapped on the hopefully best option.
