At the Hospital

Douglas paced around restlessly. It was a child meant for him and Mira, although the family dynamics presently made that uncertain. Mira was in the room with Rachel, holding her hand, coaching her through the labor. Ryan cooled his heels outside in the waiting room with Douglas, eyeing him inscrutably, like a rival.

It was a long labor, Rachel's first, but at the end, an ecstatic Mira came out, announcing the birth of little Kannika.
