Chapter 28 by Altu5g Altu5g

Which ring do you give up?

The Green

As you arrived to the place, you started weighing your options.

Immediately, you took Officer Stergins out of the running. Her body had way too much potential.

Taking Mom's ring back felt cruel in a way, even if you didn't feel all that comfortable in her body.

Sierra... you blushed as you decided Sierra was also out of the running.

As Brian made his order, you had finally narrowed your bptions down to two. The woman with the red ring was a total enigma, and her profession certainly didn't enthuse you... Yet you couldn't quite convince Yourself to choose her.

By the time the burgers arrived, you decided on Clair. Her body offered the least to you, aside from the wonderful way she felt. Fixing her opinion of Mom was important, but your buddy needed me. As such...

"Hey, does Brandi like jewelry?" Yoy asked innocently as you munched on your burger. No tomatoes, extra pickles. Grilled to perfection.

"Uh, yeah. I guess. Not that much really." He replied, his answer flip floping between bites. "She doesn't really wear any, but she has this one necklace her mom gave her. Recently she got a bracelet too. I tried buying her Jewlery before but she didn't really want it."

Seeing your slightly worried look, he added. "Not like that. That was before...y'know."

You assume he meant it was from the time she was more modest, but now she started changing hence the new bracelet. Maybe you could work with that.

Why are you asking?" Brian asked, chewing on his patty.

You ignored his indecisiveness, trying to find more of a convrete answer. After his indecision, he finally decided on a yes and your heart was a litte at ease. You looked a little awkward as you spoke, but it was an act.

"Well, my Mom came home a few days ago with a new ring, and apparently she got a full set. I got this green one, gold band and according to Mom it has a real emerald in it. If Brandi would like that, I can give it to you bright and early tomorrow. Say like...10:30?" You said with a soft chuckle. Part of you felt bad for deceiving Brian, but it was for his own good.

"I... I don't know." He replied, finishing his meal. "I'm not sure if she would like that." He went quiet for a second, but his expression changed. He didn't seem suspicious, he seemed like he was more deep in thought. "Maybe... maybe you can give it to her?"

You don't really know how to respond. On a second thought it would be safer for you to deliver it yourself, but it might look weird if you do. In the time you were thinking, Brian seemed to backpedal a bit.

"I... I don't know if she would appreciate that, to be honest. I could try. Maybe a little gift will help mend it, but I don’t know..."

"I wouldn't give it to her, you goofball," You decided, with a roll of the eyes. As much as it would be easier, it had to be Brian. "I give it to you, you give it to her, and I gurantee results almost immediately, okay?" You said, trying to make your intentions more clear. Seeing his doubt, you reached across the table again, clutching his shoulder.

"Brian, do you remember when we were applying to Smoak Uni? What did you tell me when I thought I wouldn't get in? You won't know..." you began, hoping he would finish the saying off. Seeing your buddy like this broke your heart, but you'd make him feel better. You had to. He deserved happiness.

Unless you try." He completed the sentence with a sigh. "You're right. Thanks for this man." He smiled meekly. You hated seeing him sad like that, but that smile made all the world to you. You were gonna make things right.

You call tnhe waiter for a cneck, and both leave soon enough. By the time you left it was already dark. "Alright man. I think I'II go home now. l've got classes early tomorrow." He said. "It was good seeing you."

As he turned to walk away, you offered him another fist bump. He took it and you knew how determined you were to get this done. A fiery passion had lit inside of me! You would fix Brian's problems.

What now?
