Invitation

The next morning sunlight invades and fills the vehicle's small space while not so gently waking you from what little sleep you managed to obtain. You had hoped last night's encounter had been some kind of dream or nightmare but now that you're awake you can't shake the feeling that it was all too real. Not only that but you're sure you know who those striking eyes belong to though you're incapable of remembering them at this moment. Shaking your head, you decide all you can hope for is that you somehow manage to avoid whoever the viewer was for the rest of your four years here. During the majority of the day you begin feeling like it's an actual possibility, after all, it's not like you've made very many friends since enrolling and you're probably fairly unforgettable.

"Miss Ford?"

You're nearing the end of the parking lot at the end of the day when the sound of your name being called stops you dead in your tracks. You instantly recognize the voice.

"Oh god...." You mumble under your breath before slowly turning to face the speaker. To your horror your gaze is met by the same unmistakable one from the night before. Your brows knit together in a mix of concern and apprehension as you stare at the young man silently. Aden Brooks is not only one of the most popular people on campus but he's also almost sickeningly handsome, however, in a way that seems to draw you in rather than alienate you. Regardless, right now all you can feel is bashful aversion as you quickly look away from his steely gaze.

"It is Miss Ford... right?"

All you can do is nod silently as you continue trying to avoid his intense stare.

"It's come to my attention that... I mean I saw..." The man trails off almost sheepishly before clearing his throat and speaking more assertively. "What I mean to ask is - are you sleeping in your car?"

"What?!" You gasp, finally meeting his eyes again. "No, I was just... no I'm not."

Without thinking you quickly turn and begin walking away from the man. A wince mars your face when you hear his footsteps behind you.

"I'm not trying to be nosy." He states in what you presume to be his reassuring tone.

"Then leave me alone."

You're not entirely sure why you're being so curt other than the slight embarrassment you've sustained since your last unexpected encounter. Any venom quickly leaves you when you round the shed only to find an empty spot.

"Where's my car?" You quickly turn to face the man questioningly as you struggle to hold back your emotions.

"Shit... that's why I was trying to find out." He explains, his brow creasing in concern. "That's not technically a spot. They don't check it often but if they find someone there it's an automatic tow..."

You stare at the man wordlessly as a you try to come to terms with losing the only thing keeping you from being completely fucked. A long exhale leaves your chest as you bury your face in your hands.

"What am I going to do now?" You mumble into your palms while trying to fight back tears. You breath in and out deeply for a moment while trying to regain you composure.

"Hey, I know this is crazy but you could come stay with me." You look up sharply at the man questioningly before he quickly continues. "Not with me, at my fraternity, we have a spare room right now. I'm sure no one would mind you spending the night, then we can go get your car from the impound tomorrow morning."

"Why would you do that?" You inquire softly as you observe the man curiously.

"Why wouldn't I?" He frowns lightly, his piercing gaze locking with yours. "It's not like you can just sleep outside."

You don't bother telling him that's exactly what you had intended to do until his offer. Still you're not entirely sure it's the best idea agreeing to stay at his fraternity even if it's just for one night. Before you can waste any time being indecisive a large raindrop suddenly splatters against your cheek, then another, followed by one against your shoulder. Your brow knits together again slightly before you give him a subtle nod of affirmation.
