An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
Sister Delilah eventually came upon a pair of large wooden doors. Curious about what was behind the doors, she gently pushed one opened and peeked inside. It was a large room with marble floors, frescoed ceilings, and centuries-old texts lining the walls. Sister Delilah saw two nuns sitting at a table reading their books intently, and another nun placing books onto one of the many shelves. Sister Delilah went over to the nun stocking the shelves and the woman adjusted her glasses as she noticed the newcomer walking toward her, "Hello, you must be our new sister. I am Sister Katherine."
With a friendly smile, the succubus responded, "Yes, I am Sister Delilah." She looked around with feigned amazement, "This is an incredible library. There are so many books, I wonder how you could keep track of what belongs where." Sister Delilah thought about how she could use the library to corrupt the sisters and pondered the idea of hiding some illicit reading materials among the many books.
"We actually have a computer to help us keep track of the books. It's a bit outdated, but it does the job well enough." Sister Katherine giggled and shrugged. "Come, let me introduce to some more of your new sister." She brought Sister Delilah over to the two nun sitting at a table with their noses in their books. "Sisters, this is Sister Delilah. She's the newcomer we've been hearing about."
The dark-skinned nun put down her put and smiled at Sister Delilah, "Welcome, sister. I am Sister Viola and this is Sister Estelle." She gestured to the other nun at the table who only raised her hand in greeting without taking her eyes off her book. "Don't mind her. When she's studying, she won't let anything distract her. She says it's disrespectful to the Lord." Sister Viola laughed, "I should probably get back to studying myself, but it was good to meet you."
Sister Delilah smiled and gave the a slight bow, "It was wonderful to meet you both as well, I will let you get back to your studies." Sister Katherine led her over to the large librarian's desk where the old boxy computer sat, "Wow, this computer is ancient, does it even get the internet?"
Sister Katherine nodded hesitantly, "It does, but it is very limited. We can only really use it to visit religious websites and to contact Mother Superior and other convents through email."
Another thought came to Sister Delilah, she wondered if she could find a way to get the restrictions on the computer removed so that the sisters might stumble upon porn sites. She kept it in mind as she slyly sowed a bit of discord with Sister Katherine, "Is there a distrust between Mother Superior and the sisters of this convent? The restrictions seem to suggest as much."
Sister Katherine shook her head, "I don't think it's distrust, the Mother Superior knows that even the most pious of us are susceptible to the temptations of the devil. We are all human and humanity is flawed, after all. I know it may seem condescending to someone who hasn't been part of this convent, but Mother Superior is looking after us in the best way she can."
"I understand and I mean no offense to anyone. It was just an observation." Sister Delilah hoped she planted a seed of doubt in the librarian's mind that she could cultivate and mold into something more, "If Mother Superior sees it as necessary for this convent, then I suppose it must be so."
Sister Katherine raised an eyebrow with curiosity, "Is it not how it was where you are from? Was your Mother Superior less restrictive?"
"Where I'm from, we were given autonomy and were trusted to follow the teachings of our Lord using our own judgement." The succubus reminisced of Hell without revealing its true nature.
"But doesn't such freedom risk falling to the temptation of sin?" Sister Katherine asked with genuine intrigue.
Sister Delilah nodded, "Of course, but how can you truly trust in your faith without temptation to challenge it?" She could see the hint of doubt on Sister Katherine's face and it delighted her greatly.
"I must get back to stocking the books, but you have given me much to think about and I thank you for that." Sister Katherine nodded and went back to stocking the shelves, leaving Sister Delilah to her own devices.
