Chapter 3 by inkylore inkylore

What should you do next

try striking up a conversation

you twiddle your thumbs a bit parts of you feel twitchy with this encounter and eventually your able to steal some of if not all of your resolve if you were a white individual you were sure you would be edging the voice on, recklessly like some ghost as you've seen video's. you try it again.

" hello?"

"yes?"

it answers back with not much delay. this doesn't help with your twitching though. you take a breath before presuming this dubious conversation.

" O-okay, so like who am I even talking to right now?"

"um well, your talking to me of course"

" and you are where exactly"

" I'm right in front of you"

you dart you head around the surface of the desk taking a glance at every inch trying to grasp the source.

" uh I don't see-" you stop short of a full sentence

" tilt your head up... a little bit more... turn to the left... a little more... there."

the voice guides your vision to where you should be looking and when its finished you find yourself squarely eyeing the ink bottle still trying to eye anything that could be around the ink bottle just in case you might still be missing something.

" the ink bottle"

"yes"

" I'm talking to a ink bottle"

" well yea, sort of."

a silence took place even after this realization you have a hard time believing it but at the very least it allowed you to take back your nerves. a talking bottle of ink wasn't nearly as intimidating then a ghostly presence. naturally you had questions and this bottle of ink at least seemed willing to answer. though you were skeptical about it all the same.

the conversation going forward became dubious and hard to follow but in earnest. this voice or rather this ink bottle claimed to be a less modern god part of a larger pantheon of gods centered on the modern era. they branched to a smaller pantheon of gods revolving around capitalism. and this ink bottle was supposed to be a god of "OWNERSHIP"

these gods grew and matured in age and power depending on how prevalent the source of their power was and this one was pretty weak and young because a majority of that ownership was under the notorious 1 percent. which compared to 7 billion people wasn't a whole lot apparently. As it turns out they benefit more if this power source comes from multiple places rather than it being puppeteered under a small group of individuals selling the delusion of ownership.

when confronted with why they haven't tried growing that power, it was revealed to you that all attempts are a failure do to the greed of any one person. they just hog that power for themselves then they die and all that power goes away putting them back to square one. at this point, they've given up though since then have been more partisan to whom they lend such power to. it might ultimately explain why the economy has been a bit...dystopian-like lately.

" how about it... want to take it for a spin"

" take what for a spin"

" me"

despite its migure power reflected in how young it was, it still had power to give and admittedly was granting you the offer to make use of that power. Their mild reasoning at the time was; " you seem like a nice guy." it sounded like something a girl straight out of a romcom manga would say after you did one nice thing for them. it donnes on you that this god of ownership had been in your fathers collection for a while so he probably had witnessed you for longer then it at lead on...

" I can give you the power of ownership"

which sounded cool but what did that imply and how much of that power were you actually going to be able to use... at the end of it there was really only 2 choices here, you could jump at the chance, or dwel on it until something convinces you to do so. though either way you can see yourself ultimately taking the deal in the end...but the think that makes you heasistate in this situation is usually with things like this there tends to be a catch... but this bottle of ink was such a weak god you can't really imagine the catch would be to bad...

your mind struggles to make a decision despite not knowing whats at risk...

Make a choice.
