Notification

As if by magic, her iphone vibrated at the exact second when the two blue ticks on her message lit up.

"Challenge completed. 50 points credited. Bonus round unlocked." was written on the display.

"A bonus round? That wasn't the end?" she asked herself.

Two new challenges appeared on the screen. She had the choice of accepting one of them or rejecting both. If she declined, she would receive a new deck of cards, but wouldn't get the offered rewards of course.

She hadn't made this up, it was written in a small info text at the bottom of the screen.

Jane carefully read through her options.

Both challenges offered her 100 points, twice as many as before. The second also offered her a uncommon card in her next round. Was that good? She couldn't tell. She also didn't know how much these points were worth. Was 100 points a lot? So far, she had no idea.

And what were rare cards anyway? Suddenly she spotted a small "?" at the top of the screen. Had it always been there? Surely not. She clicked on it and found a long list of symbols, including the cow, the money, and the poker card from earlier. Next to it were so-called "traits", i.e. characteristics associated with this card. There were three versions of these cards: Common, uncommon, and rare ones.

Common granted one trait, while uncommon gave two, and rare even three traits. If you received a trait that you already had, this trait would only be strengthened further.

While uncommon cards can occur from time to time in decks to choose from, rares can be obtained almost exclusively via bonus rounds or in the shop for points. Missing traits can also be bought here or unwanted ones can be removed for points, even if this is expensive. However, she would only unlock the shop at a later date, as she still lacks the points here.

With this knowledge, she took another look at the two challenges. Which one should she choose now? Or should she dismiss them and start into the next round of cards?
