Chapter 133 by Twisted_Fellow Twisted_Fellow

Friend or foe? Well or not?

Finding the perfect spot for the ritual

After eating, Blair and Ellinor spent a little over two hours shopping, spending a total of $797.86 for twenty birthday candles, two cheap lighters, an obsidian kris dagger, and a bucket filled with twenty-one fillets of salmon weighing around three pounds each. These items were placed in Blair's inventory for safe keeping as they drove toward the junkyard. Ellinor glances at Blair. "Are you sure it's a good idea to go back to the junkyard for this? It would be safer to open an illusion barrier somewhere else."

Money is decreased from $6,297,671.99 to $6,296,874.13.

Blair keeps her eyes on the road. "For everyone else, sure. There is just one problem with that. I need to be inside a dark room to start the ritual. I can't guarantee there will even be a room inside a random illusion barrier." Ellinor gently rubs the top of Caesar's head who is sitting in the back with his head upon her shoulder. "We could make a room." Blair's left eyebrow raises slightly. "Yeah, but the sooner I do this, the happier Ln'eta will be." Caesar lets out a soft howl before nuzzling his muzzle against Ellinor's left cheek.

He wasn't happy with the tone between them. Blair leans a little closer to Caesar and rubs his chest gently. "What do you think? Do you want to go to the junkyard or a new illusion barrier?" She glances at him. "Look at me if you think the junkyard." Caesar whimpers softly, looking away from Blair before nuzzling his muzzle against Ellinor's neck. Ellinor giggles. "That tickles!" She leans toward him before kissing the top of his head. "I know it was hard for you, but I appreciate that you sided with me." Blair sticks out her tongue. "Hmph, traitor..."

He turns to lick Blair's right cheek, causing her to smirk then let out a soft sigh. She glances at him. "You're lucky you're cute. I just can't stay mad at you." She rubs her cheek against his muzzle while keeping her eyes on the road. "We'll need some building supplies if we're going to do this..." Ellinor looks at Blair. "Don't worry about that. I have something else in mind." Blair blinks. "Is alchemy going to save the day here?" Ellinor chuckles. "No, silly. I purchased an item for just such an occasion."

Caesar looks between them before laying down on top of the armrest in between them. She rubs the top of his head. "It's a subspace storage device. As the name implies, it uses subspace to store objects within. This one happens to house a small building inside of it." Blair listens carefully, turning off the main road and engages stealth mode. The inside of the car becomes darker than normal, but they can still see the outside of the car. The roar of the engine dissipates soon after.

She glances around before looking at Ellinor for a moment. "Do you know of any secluded places around here?" Ellinor gently scratches the top of Caesar's head. "No, nothing comes to mind. I haven't been here in a long time." Although Caesar is enjoying Ellinor's attention, he lifts his head upon seeing a warehouse that looked abandoned outside. He lets out a bark before standing up. This draws their attention. Blair smiles, rubbing his side gently. "That place looks good. Good job boy." His tail begins to wag as Ellinor rubs the top of his head. "You're such a good boy. Yes, you are!"

It isn't long before they drive up to the abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town. As they approached, an odd chill filled the air. Blair pulls up to the side of the building, making sure there are as few viewpoints as possible. The building next to it was in better condition, but it was hard to tell if anyone had used it recently or not. She parks the car before turning it off. "All right. Let's do this." They get out and walk to the front of the building. When they get to the front door, there is a shiny new stainless-steel shielded lock holding the large door closed.

Ellinor looks over the lock. "Hmm, I can destroy this lock with a few chemicals, but it'll make a mess." Caesar sniffs the lock as Blair smirks. "I can handle the lock." Ellinor blinks. "You aren't going to smash it, are you?" Blair shakes her head. "No, it's a spell I learned shortly after escaping from Zane." Caesar walks over to Ellinor's side before sitting down. "I'd like to hear about that later." Blair looks at the lock before casting Observe on it. "I just want to verify how difficult this lock will be before I take a crack at it."

Observe:

(Yellow) Stainless-Steel Shielded Lock. Common Quality. A resilient lock designed to keep out novice thieves and curious law abiding citizens. Material: Stainless-Steel, Steel Spring, Bronze Pins. 75/75 Durability.

She was a little surprised to see the color of the text was yellow. "This may take a couple of tries, but I'll be sure to crack it." She casts Telekinetic Key, causing a transparent key in her right hand. - 10 Mp The key created was lighter than a normal key and looked like a blank. 'This was not what I thought would happen...' She took the key and pressed it gently against the lock. There was a little bit of resistance at the beginning before it slipped right in. She turned it slightly to the right then left.

After doing this a few more times, the key shattered. Ellinor tilts her head a little. "Is it supposed to do that?" Blair shakes her head slightly as she casts Telekinetic Key again. - 10 Mp "That one failed. But I'll get it this time." She presses it against the front of the lock, and it slides right in. This time, when she turns it to the right, it glides seamlessly through, allowing her to open it. An exclamation begins to flash when the lock opens. She removes the lock and puts it on the ground before allowing the exclamation to pop up.

Telekinetic Key level has increased from 1 to 2 - Chance to jam a lock that is too complex has decreased from 50% to 45%.

She opens the door, allowing Ellinor and Caesar to walk in first before following suit, closing the door behind them. Immediately upon entering, the stale air fills their nostrils. Ellinor sniffs the air while looking around. "Caesar was right. This place hasn't been used in a looong time." Caesar sneezes before wrinkling his nose. Blair rubs Caesar's lower back. "You wouldn't be able to tell by looking at that lock." She walks a few more steps forward before coming to a stop. "I think this is far enough."

She casts Create Illusion barrier, causing a small screen to appear in front of her. - 10 Mp On this screen were the settings for type, time ratio, environment type, monster type, and privacy setting. There were three options under, type: empty, trap, or monsters of selected type. When she selects empty, the option to select monsters turned grey. Next was time ratio. This one had an option from 1:1 to 1:5. Without a thought, she selects 1:5. There were five options for environment, swamp, forest, desert, abandoned city, or rigged.

However, because she had selected empty for type, all the environment types were greyed out. 'Huh. That's weird.' Just below that, at the bottom of the list was privacy setting. There were only two options, either public or private. Given what they were about to do, she selects private. She looks to Ellinor and Caesar. "Ready?" Ellinor takes Blair's left hand. "Yeah." Caesar lets out a soft bark. Blair smiles then presses accept. Upon doing so, the world shatters into a million pieces, but unlike usual all that is left is a white void. A small notification appeared in the center of her view.

Welcome to the "Nameless Void"!

"Nameless Void" will disappear upon exiting if not given a name.

Providing a name will allow access to editing functions for this illusion barrier.

Would you like to give it a name at this time?

Yes or no.

Blair is surprised by what she reads. Although she is curious about the editing functions, she selects no because of the poor location of this illusion barrier. Ellinor and Caesar look around anxiously. "Um, is this supposed to happen?" Caesar softly whimpers. Blair scratches the back of her head. "I believe I can change it if I give this illusion barrier a name, but I don't want to do that." Ellinor looks at Blair. "What's the problem with giving it a name?" Blair looks around slowly, but it is the same white void in all directions. "Nothing too serious, but it'll make this place permanent. Anyway, let's get to work."

Ellinor nods, looking toward the ground before bending down to touch it with her left hand. "Fascinating. I guess that makes this a blank canvas of sorts." She reaches in between her breasts underneath her top and pulls out a pen. The pen had four colors to choose from. The colors available were red, blue, green, and black. Blair lifts a brow. "Don't tell me that's the storage device." Ellinor nods. "I know it looks ridiculous, but it works." Blair shakes her head slightly. "I'm going to guess it can write too." Ellinor chuckles. "Of course. It wouldn't be a good disguise if it couldn't."

Blair looks at the pen a little more closely, noticing a release button under each color. "Do the colors represent its storage sections? Or are they just the colors of the pen." Ellinor slides down the black slider, pointing it a few feet away from them before pressing the button on top. "They represent its storage sections." When she does, a holographic projection of a 20 ft x 20 ft building appears. She adjusts the angle of the pen, causing the projection to change as well. Once she was happy with its location, she released the button before double tapping it, causing the projection to become solid. Caesar jumps back when the building suddenly solidifies.

She presses the button near the base of the black slider, allowing it to spring back up. "Aww, I'm sorry, Caesar. I didn't mean to scare you." Blair blinks several times, taking in what she just saw. "That's quite handy." Caesar looks at Ellinor before walking up to the building and begins to sniff around the outside of it. Once he calms down, Ellinor leads them inside. In front of them was a small kitchen and dining area taking up a 10 ft x 10 ft area, to the back left was a 10 ft x 10 ft sleeping and dressing area, to the left was a bathroom a little under 7 ft x 7 ft, the entry way and workspace took up the remaining area.

The workspace included a desktop computer, a desk, a trunk filled with supplies, two shelving units with more supplies, and an alchemist's workstation. There weren't any windows, so only the door they came through allowed any light inside. Ellinor slides her fingertips over a softly glowing green gem near the wall, causing it to go dark in exchange for a light in the middle of the room to turn on, illuminating the entire room. Caesar immediately walks ahead to investigate the new area, sniffing everything he can get his nose near and/or into. Blair looks around a little before looking down. That was when she noticed the solid white linoleum.

She glances at the green gem on the wall next to the doorway. "What powers this building?" Ellinor closes the door behind them. "It's powered by an array of mana crystals in the floor. The floor converts kinetic energy into mana. There is also a thermal converter around the ceiling light, stove, and oven to convert excess heat into mana. I created the gel that allows for the energy to transfer with almost no loss." Blair looks around before looking at Ellinor. "Is that how you could afford this place?"

Ellinor blushes while nodding slightly. "I channeled my frustrations into chemical experiments while you were gone. There were a few disasters, but my work paid off." Caesar hops on the queen size bed before laying on it. Blair walks over to Ellinor and kisses her lips gently. "I see. Well, I'm proud of you, Ellinor." Ellinor's cheeks turn beet red. "Thanks." She turns to look at Caesar. "Hey! That bed's not for you. Get down boy." Caesar lays on his side while looking at Ellinor, turning his head slightly as if he were confused.

Blair chuckles upon seeing that, using a mental command to take out the twenty birthday candles, two cheap lighters, obsidian kris dagger, and bucket filled with twenty-one fillets of salmon and set them on the ground. While Ellinor goes to scold Caesar, she begins to think about how well the ritual will go. She was told that anything less than six hours would vastly improve Ln'eta's mood. There were two hours left until the six-hour mark. Will Ln'eta be happy to see her? Or will there be any complications?
