Chapter 16 by KnotholeFox KnotholeFox

What's next?

Starting Classes

I woke up bright and early at 7:30 once again. This time, I didn't have to unpack, but I did want to find out more about the kind of training the X-Men go through. I figured most people wouldn't be up this early, so I decided to grab some coffee and get acquainted with the gym. It was actually pretty nice, closer to a real membership gym than something you'd expect to find in someone's house. Still though, I was anything but a gym rat, so I would need a lot of advice before I could make the most of its facilities. I stuck to the simple stuff like curls and calisthenics for now. I was surprised to find myself enjoying the workout, a new feeling for me.

I guess my body has been optimizing itself naturally since my X-Gene activated. If I'm burning excess fat without doing anything special at all, it stands to reason that I'd have more energy and an easier time building muscle. I think I read somewhere that most mutants have superior athleticism to normal humans, so getting in decently good shape should be pretty easy.

After a run and a quick shower, I found Scott to ask a few questions

"So what exactly does being an X-Man entail, really?"

"Well essentially, we put ourselves in danger regularly, for the sake of people we don't know, that likely won't appreciate what we've done. All because it's the right thing to do. The missions are tough, and the training is tougher, because we can't afford to be sloppy when people's lives are at stake. If you're really serious about this, you should talk to Logan about a training regimen. For now focus on your fitness, and since your power isn't physical, you might want to learn how to fight."

"That's... A lot of effort. But If I could save even one person, then I think it would be worth it."

"That's just what I was hoping to hear. You don't need to be indestructible to make a difference; I'd be glad to have you watching my back in the field." Scott said

After breakfast, I went to my first period class, English. I was pleased to see a familiar face in Kurt. In Physics class I found a much more familiar redhead, who helped distract me from a lesson I really did want to pay attention to, I swear. In Economics I was greeted by Kitty, lining up with her sharp mind. I shared my "Physical Education" class with both Scott and Kitty, who I'm sure had more appreciation for the chance to build up a sweat with me. Scott gave me some tips on proper form for certain workouts, and a bunch of us played dodgeball as well. Kitty thought she was slick, but an errant glance at my face got her out.

After class was dismissed, I approached– Mr? Prof? Coach? Logan? I approached Logan, mentioning the talk of training with the team, and needing an actual fitness plan.

"So you think your gut disappears and suddenly you're the Prime Minister of fitness, bub? I'll give you training alright, just don't say I didn't warn you." He smiled ominously "Team sessions start at six Pm every weekday, 'cept for Wednesdays. Ask someone else for directions." And he walked off

Kinda rude, not gonna lie. I think I should be scared but I'm going to ignore it for now. I've got about two hours until training, and I still need to finish that hypnosis book, preferably sometime this year.

I went to my room and grabbed the book, but decided to read somewhere else.

Where to read?
