What Will He Do?
Head Down For Lunch
Deciding that he could use this as an opportunity to test out the Rulebook, Alex grabbed the Rulebook and moved down to the dining room.
He was the last to arrive, his movement slowed by his deciding what to do. He looked around the room once he entered, seeing that everyone was already there.
His mother was still moving around the kitchen though this time she was putting things away and setting dishes and utensils aside for cleaning.
Already at the table was Alex’s younger sister, Casey. Her black hair, closer to our father’s brown than our mother’s ebony, swayed around her upper back from the high tail it was held in. Her half-lidded brown eyes scanned across her phone screen as she mindlessly scrolled some social media site or another.
Her thin black tank top, rumpled and hiked up on her torso from her lazing around, did nothing to hide how she didn’t believe in wearing bras, despite her prodigious bust likely needing the support.
Sitting across from his sister was his older brother, the only high school graduate of the children. Already nineteen, the only reason Taylor was around at home was because his college let out for a week long break. Ebony haired and green eyed, he had the closest resemblance to their mother of her children.
Walking into the room, Alex greeted his family with a simple “Yo.”
Taylor turned and saw Alex enter, and waved. “Hey, little bro. How’s things?”
Alex shrugged. “Well enough. Good grades, no trouble. The usual.”
The older man nodded. “Good, good.”
Cathleen walked into the room then, holding two plates of steaming steak sandwiches, a smile on her youthful face. Setting the plates on the table, all she said was: “Dig in!”
Dig in we did.
Eventually, after their stomachs were full, everyone moved back to their own little demesnes within the house. Casey to her room, Taylor to the sitting room to watch some TV, their mother to her office, and Alex to his own room to continue his experimentation with the Rulebook.
Sitting back at his desk, Alex decided that he’d thought long enough about what to do with the Rulebook. Setting his pencil to paper, he began to write.
