The next day

Today I took the day off from work to for my youngest daughters birthday, I was excited to surprise her later. I also didn't want to ruin the big tradition that my wife said happened on all the daughters 18th birthday. She said that she would have it end early so I could show up for dinner. I left at the normal time heading for the office, last night got me thinking I haven't been spending time with my daughters enough.

I walked into my boss's office, she was sitting with her legs spread in her chair. I refused to look though because she exuded a dominate aura that promised I would be punished if I did. The place I worked was a laboratory studying a disease that only effect a part of the population, I think they called it the futa condition? I asked her for an adjustment to my work hours so I could spend time at home with my family.

She spent some time thinking, her gaze boring into me as she remained seated. Then she reaches into a drawer pulling out a tablet and tapped at it a bit. She spoke in same tone as usual still holding onto the tablet. "John, you've been working with us for a while. I happen to enjoy having you work here-" She smiled then. "- I don't know if you noticed but you haven't actually been given any 'new' work for years now I've been having you sort out your old work again. Now as for why I have been keeping you around is purely personal." She waved the tablet in her hand indicating that it held all the things she was talking about.

"Now even if I offer you a choice you will see no harm in seeing it because you'll think there isn't harm in knowing why. All I can tell you is that if you see this it will change you." She still hasn't offered it to me yet. But after a short wait, not long enough to be awkward though, she speaks again "Alright so, do you want to see what's on this tablet? If you don't nothing will change, I will however reduce the time you spend working per day as you have asked. As for what will happen if you do... That will have to be for after you see it, you will keep your job though."

She waited for me to answer with a serious face, she definitely wants me to choose the tablet though as her fingers dance over the edge of it.
