Then...
Meeting Dr. Emery Verlax
A lanky man with messy black hair stood on the porch with a wide grin on his face as he watched the state vehicle pull up. His dark brown eyes sparkled, and his sharp features gave him a distinguished look. He was wearing a pair of black slacks and a lab coat. He watched the sisters exit the car, followed by a slightly nervous Katie.

"Ah, perfect. You are right on time!" Dr. Emery Verlax exclaimed. "I've been wondering when my new specim-er, assistant would arrive!" The two sisters were unfazed by this odd man, but Katie could hear alarm bells in her head. Was he about to say 'specimen'?
"Here's her paperwork, doctor," Lisa said, handing him the folder. "We hope she is able to meet all your home assistance needs. If you have any issues, or concerns, please call the number on the card and we'll be glad to assist."
"Oh, I'm sure she'll do just fine." Dr. Verlax replied, looking down at the paperwork and then glancing over at Katie.
"If you'll excuse us, we have other appointments to make." Lisa said, as she and her sister turned to leave. Katie began to speak up.
"Wait, just like that? No orientation or anything?"
"No, dear, this is it. Good luck."
And with that, the twin sisters left her standing on the porch alone with the scientist. Dr. Verlax and Katie just stood there in silence for a bit while the van drove off.
"You know," Dr. Verlax began to say, still looking at the paperwork in his hands. "This paperwork doesn't actually tell me much about you. Let's get to know each other, shall we?" He opened the door to his house and gestured her with his other hand to come on in.
She had no idea what this man could be about. If there was a moment to make a break for it, this would be it.
