Cid obtain a possession power thanks to Clive

This story was written by Henroko. This takes place after the fight with Benedika. In this case she survives the battle with Clive.

After their battle with Benedikta, Cid took Clive aside to have a word with him.

“The way you were able to take Benedikta’s powers, it something I’ve never seen before. I wonder I can do the same…” Cid said aloud.

“Because you are a Dominant?” Clive asked.

“Yes, I suppose I figured it wouldn’t be bound to the one with Ifrit” Cid nodded.

“If that is all, then I’ll be going-” Clive began.

“Wait, there is more. I need to test it out first” Cid stopped him.

Clive looked at him, a tired expression on his face. One that told the man he was tired of being the one to front everyone's curious interest.

“Please, I know it is a lot to ask. But you are the only one I can ask” Cid told him.

“Very well, just for a moment and not a moment more” Clive agreed.

“Of course, I don’t need more than one of these in my body” Cid swore to him.

Clive prepared himself, bracing for the feeling that he had observed in Benedikta losing her powers to him. Cid tried his best to do as he saw Clive did, focusing his mind and anything else he assumed needed to be done. Unfortunately, Clive didn’t feel a thing. He stood there, albeit confused as Cid continued to try.

“Ugh! Not a thing…” Cid sighed after some time.

“Are you sure? It might have failed from the start and you simply were overexerting yourself” Clive offered.

“Perha-” Cid began.

His voice was cut off as blood shot up his throat. He coughed hard and reached for his throat. His strength left him and he collapsed on the floor in front of Clive.

“Cid? Cid!” Clive shouted as he lifted the man’s body.

Clive didn’t waste another second, lifting Cid onto his shoulder and carrying him to the med bay for treatment. Tarji began treating his fresh wounds from the previous battle. Time had passed before Cid regained consciousness. Pain shot through his limbs as he stirred awake. His loud groan alerted Tarji, earning a stern look from the specialist.

“You over did it again, if you keep abusing your powers like this then you might actually die for once!” Tarji scolded him.

“I know that, I’ll be more careful next time… promise” Cid groaned as he sat up.

“You better” she huffed.

Gav, Clive and Jill entered the med bay to check up on Cid. They looked relieved seeing the man up and about again.

“There he is, kicking and picking fights again” Gav smiled.

“I was worried when Clive said you collapsed out of nowhere” Jill sighed in relief.

“Imagine being the one who saw it, never had I see such a thing before. Done me a fright he did” Clive nodded.

“Alright, I think I got earful from Tarji. Let’s get on with it” Cid said as he tried to shift the attention away from his blunder.

“Not so fast, you aren’t in any condition to fight let alone walk” Gav interrupted.

“I agree, we have enough hands that you can sit one fight out” Clive agreed.

“Don’t go putting me on the bench over this” Cid began.

“It wouldn’t be right for us to let you fight when injured. You gave me a moment to rest too” Jill argued.

Cid paused, rubbing his chin as he realized these three and maybe even Tarji would wrestle him back into bed.

“Fine, I concede. What about the missions then?” Cid asked.

“Clive and Jill can carry on the missions, they have two working legs after all” Gav grinned.

“Very well, I don’t see a problem with that arrangement…” Cid grumbled.

“Benedikta is being held at the Hideaway’s jail site, we moved her a bit before you woke up” Gav added.

“Is that right? I want to interrogate her, it’s the least I can do if I can’t go on missions” Cid said.

“You can’t even leave your bed yet, save the interrogations till after your better” Tarji scolded him.

“Aye, let’s let him be” Gav said as he guided Clive and Jill out of the medical bay.

Cid frowned, looking around the medical bay for anything that could expedite his treatment. He trusted Tarji to care for him but he needed to be better now. This couldn’t wait as the war wouldn't wait. Cid began to snoop around when he had the chance, looking at the bottles and vials near his bed.

‘If only I could be well now!’ he thought as he set them down.
