You understand that you need to move faster, that you will not reach the nearest settlement on foot until nightfall. You decide that you should try hitchhiking. You're standing on the road and trying to stop one of those cars heading west.

Nothing happens for half an hour.

You think: "Is hitchhiking really that hard! Come on, Billy! Luck must smile at you sometime!"

Finally, you see one heavy truck stop, a hairy, bearded red-haired trucker peeps out of it. He yells at you, "Get in the cab, cutie! I can take you to Trenburg! It's a small town in Arizona on the state line."

You accept his invitation with relief and climb into the cab of his car.
