Some work

After she leaves the room you go ahead and decide that you will work for a while. There’s no reason to do anything else, since you came all the way into work on your day off. You get presentable again and think about whether you would like to go to the party that Angela invited you tonight or do something else.

You blast out some emails that you have been meaning to get out before you leave, return some phone calls to directors, agents, and other people. Once you finish up you take a few minutes before you leave to tidy up your desk. You power down your laptop, return your notes to their case, and clear your stack of paper.

Then, you look down and you see a text.
