Your father was sitting there at a table in what looked to be the same place he had gone in before, a half-full glass in front of him as he talked with another man sitting next to him. The conversation was dreary as they talked about goings on at work and you assumed the other guy was a colleague or something similar given the topic.

If that was all you could see then you would have ended the connection right then and there but with both of them sitting beside each other and not opposite, you could clearly see that their attention was placed further down the bar, both of them staring at some younger women who were clearly not looking in their direction.

It still didn’t stop them making snide remarks and creepy comments about them as if they weren’t even there and even you were getting second hand embarrassment from just witnessing it. The fact that he had somehow managed to find someone other than Mom to put up with him was something you still couldn’t wrap your head around.

As if your opinion of him couldn’t get any lower, he downed the rest of his drink and actually got up to approach the group at the bar. You would have thought the disinterest they were giving off would be enough to stop him but that clearly didn’t get through to him and you could even see the bartender sticking around that group just to make sure nothing happened.

You had been worried about Grace potentially interrupting your time and having to cut it short but you did that yourself, finding it too hard to keep watching after he had returned to his table to sit with his coworker. Still, even if your opinion of him was at rock bottom, the fact that he was still married to Mom and was in the process of ruining another family meant that you couldn’t just pretend he no longer existed.

It had been proven to you and you didn’t think it would take much to prove it to anyone else but you still needed some actual evidence that he was being unfaithful or now trying to be unfaithful for a second time.

You gave an edited version to Emma of what you saw, both for her benefit and so you didn’t have to live through the experience again. You saw her get angry again so while the mood was serious, you brought up the KDK. It wasn’t the time to do anything intimate and you definitely didn’t feel like doing that now anyway, but you could still talk about a few things that were best done in private.

“Putting that behind us, I’ve been thinking I should finally use some of the effects I’ve been saving. Not for any specific reason even just because I haven’t found the time. Have you thought any further about yours?” you asked, checking your user upgrades before moving onto Emma’s.

Keep it up! V4 (user upgrade):
Chances of the user getting sick or experiencing an illness decrease, this is also the same for mental health conditions. Both of the above also take longer to develop and are less severe if/when they do occur.

Fertility Control Level 1 (user upgrade):
Description: Allows the user to control their own fertility and lower their chances of impregnating another individual. Chances of getting pregnant can only be lowered or set to default at this level of the upgrade.

Emma: Shared Experience (Subject - Emma Turner upgrade):
Description: For her knowledge and **** acceptance of the app, Emma will be rewarded with, if she chooses to accept the upgrade, the ability to view a read-only version of the KDK from her own chosen personal device. This only includes the User’s subject profiles and will only update when the User themselves checks the KDK from the main device. Features such as the gallery, shop and/or the achievement list(and other features) require a perk point to be spent by the User to unlock.
(This upgrade is locked to Subject ‘Emma Turner’ due to the nature of the achievement and the given custom effect).

The thought of the fertility upgrade being activated would have usually made you cringe when you imagined the pain but after what you had just witnessed, it didn’t seem that bad in comparison.

“This isn’t me pushing you to take your effect either it’s just…” you started to explain.

“I know, you were just taking my mind off of things” Emma said with a smile, knowing you weren’t trying to influence her on this.

“I’m pretty sure I’m going to take it but I’m still stuck on what device to pick. The idea of having it set up on my PC and when I come to my room I can view the gallery and see everything you have done that day really turns me on. And then I get to dream as well…” Emma replied, the scenario taking her away for a moment before she brought herself back.

“...Or I can have it on my phone and view it at any time. It’s more preference at this point but in the long term I don’t know what is best to have. I think I’m gonna get a new phone a lot sooner than a new PC but then if I change any of the parts will it still count as the same PC?” Emma questioned, bringing up a thought you had had yourself.

You were definitely making sure that you never lost your phone but at some point it wasn’t going to be worth it to keep it as your regular phone. You’d get an upgraded phone for all the usual stuff and then have the KDK separately. That was just one scenario however. You had no idea if the option to send it to another device would be available and if Emma had a copy, if only read only, that meant you had a chance at using it as a failsafe.

“I’m not sure either so I’d just go with whichever you think is best regardless of the longer term consequences. It is a lot harder to lose a PC but again you could put it on an old phone so it never left your room except under special circumstances… I’m not helping you out with this am I?” you asked after realising you were just making it more complicated.

“No you’re not. You’ll still have to be there with me when I do finally decide so you won’t miss out on anything. You said you wanted to do your upgrades?” Emma said, bring you back to your own choices.

You regretted doing multiple upgrades last time so you spaced the two out. First using ‘Keep it up’ before going on to the Fertility upgrade, knowing the pain was bound to be more localised. Still, it wasn’t nearly as bad as you expected but you still felt yourself tense up as you expected more to come.
