Sam gets a call

Your hand searched the drawer, findinding the pen after a short moment. You took a deep breath, readying yourself for action. Just as you were about to turn, your mother's phone rang.

"Shit, it's the boss."

You turned back, slipping the phone into your pocket and trying to seem incospicuous. You watched Sam as they answered the call.

"Hey Elaine! How are you?" All of the sudden his voice completely changed, appearing again like your mother.

"Oh no, I'm still home." She said. "Uh huh. Uh- oh shit- I mean, shoot- it's now? I'm so sorry, I haven't noticed the time! I'll be right over. Bye!"

As soon as she hang up the phone, she groaned in a very un-Marie-like fashion.

"I gotta go. I'm late for 'book club'" she said mockingly, clearly not enjoying this facade. You nodded simply, not really seeming as inconspicuous as you would want to.

Your mom raised her eyebrow, confused at your apparent stress. "You good bro?" She asked. It was so weird hearing those words come out of her mouth...

"Uh yeah, not feeling the best that's all."

"Mhm." She nodded simply.

"Well I trust you to keep an eye for these retards in my absence. I should be back in like, 3 hours."

You simply nodded again, Sam still giving you an odd look, but shrugging it off.

"Here, in case you guys wanna trade skins or something." She says, handing you the brown pen. "Thanks." You said simply as Sam turned away to leave.

In a moment of quick thinking, you aimed the brown pen at your mom and pressed the button.

Immediately your mind is flooded with information. Names, images, memories, all stuff that was completely foreign to you. But just as suddenly as it all appeared, it was all gone. You blinked a few times, trying to comprehend the flood of information that ran through your hand.

Sam, for their part, was completely unfazed, continuing on their way downstairs.

Just what the hell was that?
