The Fourth Candidate: Moses Jones
There was a fourth candidate. Like Yuusuf, he didn't quite fit the bill. But there was an intriguing angle to this one. Moses Jones was a former mayor of the city. He was statewide chair of the NAACP. He'd had a beautiful wife, and a wonderful life. And certain elements of the city hated that.
So they trumped up charges of voter fraud against him, and when they raided his house, they found crack cocaine in his wife's drawer. So they pinned him with both crimes. The prosecutor was Elizabeth's father.
He'd been in jail since, for almost twenty years now. His reputation was destroyed. His wife divorced him. No sons or daughters to visit him. He was alone. But he was getting out in a month. Perhaps Douglas could let him have his revenge.
