New wife, new life.

None of that really phases you, and losing all your old ties doesn't really matter. You're about to start a new life with your brand new bride and impending child. Despite Rebecca essentially taking you to the cleaners during the divorce settlement, you still have more than enough money to move to a smaller town nearby and pay for a beautiful house, with a lovely garden. Living in your new home makes you wonder why you and your ex-wife lived in such a big house all by yourselves. In fact, almost everything has you questioning your life before Gemma, and before the pregnancy. Everything now seems so much more... fulfilling.

It's as if you now have a purpose in your life. Instead of your previous marriage, where you and Rebecca seemed to be living two parallel lives under the same roof, your relationship with Gemma is wholly connected and wholly symbiotic. You rely on each other for both your physical and emotional needs, and for the first time that you can remember, you feel whole inside. All you can do now is wait for the final piece of the puzzle, your child, who you hope and pray is happy and healthy.

Early in Gemma's second trimester, you accompany her to the doctor to receive an ultrasound of her belly, which finally reveals what you’ve been waiting for.
