That Friday

Elena was a little on edge. Her parents talked to her this morning about some emergency meeting among all the parents Wednesday night and there was not anything they could do about it and that there was a vote among all the parents and they were in the majority and that is when she tuned out blah blah blah.

The only thing she really got was that was the mandatory meeting of all seniors in the auditorium during first period.

Coach Hurley pulled her aside when she entered and was told to sit with the rest of her Cheerleading team.

She wondered what was going on. It was still the first week of school coming into the new year. So she just gossiped until the adults spoke.

Everyone quieted, mostly, when the lights dimmed and Principle Chaucer took the stage. There was the usual speech about school pride, talking about upcoming events, and a lecture involving colleges and our future.

Then there was the bombshell. The horrifying bombshell.

“The school has implemented a new policy regarding student sports team uniforms. There is starting now, a no uniform uniform policy. Meaning just shoes, sock, and nothing else.”

There was total quiet as most students didn’t know what this meant. Elena certainly didn’t. Subtly, sarcasm, and most of its forms were lost on her.

“For those who have yet to figure it out…it means naked.” She hesitated.

Then the talking started. All the girls were horrified, especially those on sports teams. The boys were for the most part ecstatic, with the ones playing sports having mixed feelings.

On average boys tend to handle being naked better than girls.

It took awhile to silence the students.

“Quiet down! There is more! Those underaged will wear bikinis and speedos with school colors. On game day, those participating in a sports match, will wear their ‘uniforms’”, she air quoted “throughout the school day. QUIET!” She yelled when they started talking again.

“Those affected will wear their normal school uniform to school and must go directly to their school locker and change. Any affected student not changed by the time homeroom starts will receive a naked detention.”

“Coach Hurley. Please escort the top six ranked cheerleaders to the stage.”

Elena, along with Heather, Megan, Beth, Nancy, and Rosa follows the coach in a line in front of the raised podium. Most of them had a bad feeling except Elena who failed to pick up on the other girls’ tension.

The principal started to talk again.

“These six cheerleaders are the top ranked of the senior class. Every week Coach Hurley will rerank all the senior cheerleading team and if he thinks any of them throws the next ranking will keep it.”

Now all the girls on the stage were scared, even Elena.

“As a show of school spirit, the top six cheerleaders will remain unclothed during school until the end of the basketball season.”

Now there was genuine applause from all the boys in the senior class, as well as some of the girls. While seeing Elena Nethers naked was normal, the other girls were an exciting bonus.

Principal Chaucer waited for the students to quiet before. “Okay girls, strip.”

That silenced the rest.

“Hurry up girls. We don’t have all day.” And she tapped her foot.

After a few moments, it was the blonde Nancy who pulled a shirt over her head. It sparked the rest into action, albeit slowly.

Elena was as freaked out as the rest of the girls. It was like she was in the Twilight Zone. Only her parents had seen her in the buff. Her mother last week when she was trying on clothes. And her father two months ago when the downstairs shower broke. She rushed up the stairs to the master bathroom and didn’t realize her father was not still out in the big garage playing with his classic cars. And a few times before that when she didn’t want to wear a bathing suit in the pool and lost track of time when her parents were away for the day.

Now she was among six naked girls holding their hands in front of their private parts. Except Nancy for some reason who had her fisted hands down at her sides.

“Everybody quiet down!” The principal shouted.

“You will be respectfull of our nude students! And remember, no touching! No means no! Being naked is not an invitation for intimacy, I’m talking to you boys.”

“Mr. Hurley, please escort the girls to their lockers.”

She then called a teacher over and covered the microphone while asking for a janitor. There was a puddle on the stage where Beth had stood.

Elena followed her coach out of the auditorium and them proceeded to ask a bunch of questions with the rest of the naked girls.

Once the girls were gone, the principal had more to say.

She smiled. “There you have it, Elena Nethers is now naked.”

She clapped her hands and students followed suit.

“Now remember, this will only work in school. And only for the basketball season. If you have any ideas for Elena to stay naked, talk to your parents and they will present ideas at the PTA meetings. I know some of you think you have a good idea, but out in the real world your parents have experience. At least half of them are lawyers after all.” And she smiled and some students laughed.

“Now, do I have a volunteer for detention for breaking into Elena’s locker and stealing her clothes later today? Remember, there are cameras in the hall, so there may be some visual acting.”

A number of hands went up.
