Chapter 79 by fenharel

Is Evangeline down for the count?

Not at all

Author's note: Retcon again. Sorry. Doubles event is no longer happening at the night, it will now happen on the next day after the magic caster event. Makes slightly more sense.

Verdi stood before Evangeline, his nostrils and lungs burning as the air grew thinner, the hulking monstrosity still passed out in front of him as he tried to keep his heart rate in check. He was a bit worried towards the end, but his gambit paid off. Evangeline was ****. He wanted to feel catharsis at a plan well executed, but he just felt ashamed. It took him too long to think of a counterplay to Evangeline's nigh invulnerability, the only reason he got the idea was because he screwed up an ice spell, and even then she practically handed him the victory by toying with him during the fight. All in all, he didn't feel victorious. He just felt dirty and stupid. It was a backhanded victory, and he damn well knew it.

At the beginning of the fight, she altered her wings to connect directly to her lungs and altered her lungs to optimize surface area to convert 100% of the oxygen in the air to carbon dioxide. She needed such modifications to sustain her enhanced regeneration and metabolism due to the increased energy consumption. Even with the modifications to her body, there was a good chance she wasn't getting enough oxygen and felt like she was constantly suffocating. It was this assumption compounded with the fact that she was toying with him that led to his ultimate victory.

Carbon dioxide was naturally heavier than the atmosphere, so it will naturally settle towards the ground in a closed system. Of course, in an open environment, carbon dioxide will mix with other gases, get heated, and rise up to the atmosphere. The only time carbon dioxide will settle to the ground is when it is suddenly introduced to an area in high concentrations, such as from the respiration of a muscle bound angel. Every time Evangeline exhaled carbon dioxide would settle on the arena and freeze on the ice arena he had generated, creating a thin layer of dry ice throughout the arena. Harassing her and getting her to run around in a frenzy was his way of ensuring she coated the entire arena in her breath.

He had planned on letting the dry ice sublimate normally and saturating the arena in carbon dioxide to suffocate her. True, he'd suffocate as well, but Evangeline's body was bigger and she had a faster metabolism, ergo she'd pass out before him. Having her coat the arena in flesh to halt the fog and charge him was just a lucky break for him, her incredible body heat melting the ice all at once and his hollow ice spikes allowing the CO2 to bubble out from the layer of meat. Had she not gotten impatient, there was a good chance she would have killed him before the CO2 concentration became lethal if he let the dry ice sublimate naturally. The sad reality was that he didn't surpass her in skill, intelligence, or even resilience compared to Evangeline. The only thing he outclassed her in was pure luck.

In a normal setting, she could just run away or jump out the second she noticed something was wrong, but the second she used spirit power she was disqualified. The second she left the arena she'd lose, so she couldn't run either. She was fighting with both arms tied behind her back. As if agreeing with his beliefs, Verdi heard several murmurs from the few members of the audience still in the arena as the announcer mumbled to someone from his booth, baffled as to just what was happening. The only shouts heard in the arena were of Evangeline's lovers.

"YOU GLORIOUS BASTARD! YOU GLORIOUS LITTLE FUCKING BASTARD!"

"AH! HE FUCKING DID IT! HE DID IT!"

"HAHAHAHAHA! FINALLY! THE WITCH IS DEAD!"

"FUCK THAT BITCH! STAB HER IN THE EYE! FUCKING STAB HER! TELL HER IT'S PAYBACK TIME! STAB HER!"

"She... She's done it! The Ice Princess has done it! After several millennia, the Collector has met her match!" The harpy announcer shouted after a moment, suddenly remembering his job as he officially announced Verdi's victory. There was no fanfare or shouts, the arena long abandoned as the remaining audience was too stunned to see the dreaded Collector that terrorized the world was bested by a mere ice alchemist. Verdi sighed, the deafening silence far more painful than Evangeline's beat down. Only one group was still treating this moment as a triumphant victory and giving Verdi his well earned respect.

"YEAAAAH!"

"I FUCKING LOVE YOU, YOU LITTLE FUCKING BASTARD!"

"STAB HER!"

The only other people actively cheering for him was, sadly, Evangeline's lovers, each one of them either laughing, praising Verdi, or demanding he stab Evangeline. Clicking his tongue, he burned up the last of his magic power reshaping the ice dome around him into a long, hollow lance as he did as the crowd demanded.

"Uh... Verdi! You won! Stop attacking. If you kill her you'll be disqualified!" The harpy announcer said, his voice noticeably hesitant as he did his best to fulfill the bare minimum of his job. Upon hearing this, the arena went wild as thousands of voices cursed the announcer out, each one in a different tongue.

"IGNORE HIM! MY CLAN SHALL REPAY YOU FOR THIS! KILL HER!"

"GO FUCK YOURSELF BIRD!"

"KILL THE BIRD NEXT!"

"KILL ME NEXT!"

"KILL HER FIRST!"

Raising his lance, Verdi stabbed it upwards, landing it in Evangeline's left lung as it ran through her entire body. Before long, the spear shot out of her back, continuing to advance as Evangeline's lovers continued shouting.

"THAT'S IT! STAB IT THROUGH HER!"

"LITTLE HIGHER BUDDY! YOU MISSED THE HEART!"

"GO WAY HIGHER! GO FOR THE THROAT!"

"NO GO FOR THE BRAIN!"

"THE EYES! TAKE HER EYES!"

As if hearing the cries of her lovers, Evangeline's eyes shot open at that moment. Still dazed, she squinted to focus her eyes before looking down to find Verdi stabbing her, her chest numbed by the sheer cold. He was mere inches from her. All she had to do to kill him at this range in his current state was lean forward and squish him like a bug. The slightest touch, and she would be able to turn him into one of her lovers. He was completely helpless now that he was out of magic power. Despite how **** Verdi was, she gasped, her chest sucking in air through Verdi's improvised straw as every single one of her lovers screamed.

"RUN! SHE'S STILL AWAKE!"

"DON'T LET HER TOUCH YOU!"

"IT'S NOT OVER! GET BACK BEFORE SHE CLAIMS YOU!" Thousands of voices cried out, warning Verdi of his demise assuming he was truly blind without his eyes. As Evangeline took in her surroundings and looked down at her chest, she broke out into a smile. Every person in the arena began screaming, **** to get Verdi to leap back.

"Get away from her before she gets you too!" The harpy announcer shouted, joining in the crowd in warning of Verdi's demise. Evangeline reached out a muscular hand, the veins throbbing in anticipation as she grabbed Verdi by the head, a single finger larger than his skull. As she palmed his skull, there was no pop or squish as she tenderly stroked his head like a puppy.

"Oh you are so adorable helping me out like that!" Evangeline said, taking in her current situation in an instant as her muscular body began melting, her flesh falling away. Wet slaps resounded through the arena as several hundred pounds of meat and bone vacated her body, falling around Verdi without touching him. Before long, standing before Verdi wasn't a hulking beast, but a lithe, slim angel with white feathered wings and a bountiful chest. Muttering inventory, she concealed her nude form with a simple toga as she stored the residual body fluids coating her in her inventory for later recycling. "So nice to see that chivalry isn't dead!" She said cheerily as Verdi continued to stare at her with empty eye sockets.

"Ah uh uh ah." Verdi said, his face still mangled beyond recognition as he tried to speak without a tongue, jaw, or mouth. Evangeline stared at him for a second before pointing to his face.

"Do you need me to fix that? Your pain is a quite appetizing, but it's a bit of a hassle talking without a face." Evangeline offered as Verdi pointed a bloodied finger to the viewer's booth where the rest of his party was. Following his finger, she snapped her fingers in realization. "Oh! You you want your friends to heal and you want to tell them you won?"

"Ah!"

"Here, let me get that for you." Evangeline said, walking to the mat of throbbing flesh coating the arena keeping the party at bay and touching it. Instantly, several serrated knives flew out from the viewing booth, each one punching through Verdi's body. A thin line of piano wire connected them to Fenri as she yanked them back, sending Verdi flying backwards as Varrick caught him midair, none of the members of his party willing to traverse the sea of meat.

"Sorry, sorry, sorry, I'll fix you right away and scold Fenri later." Varrick apologized, Verdi's body mangled further the rescue attempt. Before Verdi could say anything, Varrick casted a healing spell while Fenri took a knife out and stabbed Verdi in the stomach. "WOULD YOU STOP THAT!?"

"Inventory." Fenri muttered, spawning several day's worth of food in Verdi's body as his body began converting it into biomass. A searing pain filled Verdi as his body's regeneration and Varrick's healing magic caused him to heal too quickly, his body rapidly overheating as he forcibly cooled his body with ice magic to avoid spontaneous combustion. In the blink of an eye, he was back to normal.

"Are you okay!? Is there a trace of her in your body? Do you feel anything writhing inside of you!? Quick, how many fingers am I holding up!?" Varrick asked in rapid succession, worried beyond belief as Verdi took in a deep breath to test his newly grown lung out. Before he could answer, Verdi looked up to find Evangeline calmly strolling towards the party, happily waving to them as though she were greeting old friends.

"Belsach! Daria! Varrick! I almost didn't recognize you guys!" She said, recognizing the trio instantly as everyone but Verdi braced themselves. Evangeline had exhibited strength on par with Varrick's, speed akin to Fenri's, and regeneration on par with Verdi without even using spirit power to amplify her strength. Even Verdi knew that he won because she was too busy having fun to take him seriously. Despite the terror everyone felt, nobody dared back down as Evangeline continued to stroll forward without a care in the world.

"Fuck you." Daria spat, baring her canines to Evangeline. Rather than be intimidated or aggravated, Evangeline let out an excited squeal as Verdi finished healing and got back on his feet.

"Oh my, is little Verdi your latest recruit for the Roses? Eren always had an eye for talent. Guess you guys inherited that too." She asked as Verdi rubbed his jaw and looked down to find he was borderline nude, his shirt and pants destroyed by the battle. The only part of skin that wasn't displayed to the world were his genitals, both of them concealed by a few thin strips of cloth that he had to actively hold in place.

"No. We're not working for the Roses anymore." Varrick answered, his voice devoid of emotion as Evangeline continued walking forward. "Not another step Evangeline." He demanded, his voice taking on a hue of hostility as he reached to his sword, gripping it tightly as a faint white light emanated from the blade. Verdi's hair stood on end as his monster instincts told him to get away from Varrick, the holy flames causing shivers to run down his spine.

"Come now. Don't be shy. Now that you're all grown up, you don't need Eren to supervise our visits." Evangeline said genially, either ignorant or ignoring the hostility towards her. Despite that, she didn't take another step forward. "Besides. I'm not a savage that'll just blindly lash out for losing. Verdi here won all on his own, and he deserves to enjoy his victory and continue competing."

"Right. You're just going to walk away without any trouble?" Daria asked sarcastically, no doubt experienced in the angel's shenanigans.

"What kind of psychopath would interrupt the tournament?" Evangeline asked innocently

"One that's been abducting people to stuff in her box for 40,000 years." Belsach growled, the hobgoblin disgusted to even gaze upon the Collector's visage. Despite the hatred directed to her, Evangeline maintained her genial smile as she spoke, taking a single step forward.

"If I really were a psychopath..." An overwhelming sense of dread filled everyone, Evangeline's presence beyond the strength of Belsach's humiliating monster core. Chills and shivers ran down the entire arena, the Collector's unrestrained presence enough to send the world kowtowing to her for mercy. Citrinas lost her focus while Fenri's grip on her knives weakened. Even Varrick audibly swallowed, his heart sinking the face of a true horror. It was in this maelstrom of fear that she finished her sentence, each word ringing through everyone's bodies. "You'd all be dead right now."

There was no malice or venom in her tone nor was there arrogance. It was a casual statement of fact. Everyone in the area shuddered, knowing on a primal level that Evangeline was a truly transcendent being. If she truly wished it, the city would become her plaything. Only one person was completely unfazed by her presence, walking forward and extending his hand to Evangeline as though he didn't even realize what she was doing. Even Evangeline was taken aback, the lack of hesitation enough to shock her.

"Anyway, good match. Sorry I ended up kinda, well, I cheated by doing a sneaky trick." Verdi said, still unfazed by her fear aura. Evangeline stared at him in disbelief, looking down at his hand then studying his face for the slightest trace of fear. Evangeline's sides began hurting as she saw Verdi's face. He wasn't afraid of her. A melodic voice akin to a harp escaped her lips as she clutched her stomach to from the pain, a fit of laughter taking the angel at that moment.

"Verdi, don't let her touch you." Citrinas spat under her breath as Evangeline grabbed Verdi's hand. Though she could have easily turned him to sludge, she did no such thing as the two exchanged a handshake of mutual respect.

"Sweetie, you won fair and square. I should apologize to you. I should have taken you more seriously as a threat, but you were just too much fun! You earned this victory!" Evangeline reassured, feeling no ill will towards Verdi's final attack. "I must say, I'm a little surprised you didn't kill me when you had the chance. All you had to do was let me sit around and I'd probably suffocate." She said as every person, from the screaming mouths of her lovers to the audience to even Citrinas said the same three words. It echoed through to the heavens as they all spoke in unison, united as one.

"YOU SAVED HER!?" Verdi covered his ears, the words deafening as Verdi responded to Evangeline.

"It's a casual tournament. I'm not gonna **** someone in cold blood because I wanted to win really bad." Verdi answered flatly to everyone's disbelief. True, the two of them beat each other to a pulp and did some rather **** attacks, but neither of them wanted a **** match. Evangeline had offered Verdi several chances to surrender, so it wasn't as though she wanted to kill him either. His injuries were the result of his own lack of talent rather than any maliciousness on Evangeline's part.

"YOU SAVED THAT CRAZY BITCH!?" Belsach bellowed, visibly shocked and horrified by Verdi's answer. "CHAMP WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU THINKIG!?"

"Yeah. Why are you guys so angry?" Verdi asked, puzzled as Daria pointed to the arena.

"There's an arena full of meat screaming reasons why you should've kill her!" She reiterated as Verdi listened to the screams, no longer cheering for him.

"They're screaming reasons why she should kill me, actually." Verdi corrected as Evangeline frowned and focused on her lovers' words.

"YOU FUCKING MORON! YOU FUCKING IDIOT!"

"HOW DUMB CAN YOU BE!?"

"WERE YOU DROPPED ON YOUR HEAD AS A KID!?"

"I HOPE SHE STUFFS YOU IN THE BOX WITH US YOU INFLAMED CUNT FLAP!"

"GO TO HELL YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT!"

"Wow. Tough crowd." Verdi mumbled as Evangeline turned beet red, visibly discomforted by her lover's words. Her usual cheery demeanor or intimidating presence was gone as she shrunk down, visibly disturbed from the jeers and curses laden at Verdi. While Verdi seemed unfazed by the insults, Evangeline seemed to take each one as though she were the one being insulted.

"Verdi, I-I have no idea what to say. Here I am, promising that my lovers would behave, and they go out and **** you. I'm so, so, so sorry." Evangeline stumbled, visibly flustered as clasped her hands, fidgeting nervously in embarrassment. She looked like she was on the verge of crying as she spoke.

"It's fine. It's fine." Verdi said as the audience began booing him. Evangeline's lovers joined in, cursing him out, booing him, or demanding Evangeline stuff him in her collection. Even Citrinas and Fenri seemed shocked at his unwillingness to commit ****.

"No, no. This is unacceptable. I promised my lovers would be polite, and I broke that promise." Evangeline said, her voice firm as she spoke. "I will do anything in my power to make this right." She said as Verdi tilted his head, deep in thought as he thought over his answer.

"Do you promise to not retaliate against me or anyone I know for whatever I plan to ask from you?" He asked as Evangeline nodded resolutely, the entire arena too shocked at the turn of events to even comment. Only Evangeline's lovers remained speaking, continuing to curse Verdi out.

"You have my word no matter what you say, I will not hold the punishment against you or retaliate in any hostile way against you or anyone you know. I've broken my word once, it will not happen again." She said firmly as Verdi gave his punishment to Evangeline.

"Turn every single one of your lovers back to their original forms when you first claimed them and let them go free." Instantly, half the curses and jeers at him went silent as every single flesh monstrosity looked to Verdi. Some of the "lovers" who didn't understand Verdi's tongue continued to curse him, only to go silent when they noticed their peers were quiet. Silence fell over the arena as Evangeline gave a solemn smile.

"How cruel. But, I can see your reasoning. To deprive them of my love and offer them a **** sentence on top of that? I will learn my lesson from this." She said as every single one of her lovers cheered in pure jubilation, the prospect of returning to their native forms overriding whatever negative feelings they held to Verdi earlier. Before long, they had returned to complimenting him for his strength and intelligence, as though they hadn't been insulting him literally seconds ago.

"Uh... I'm not killing them." Verdi clarified as Evangeline shook her head.

"Time will kill them. No more eternal youth, their bodies will be **** once more, and they won't have anyone to protect them. They'll go back to their sad, limited lives then die of old age." Evangeline said as she snapped her fingers. Instantly, the angel from earlier hopped into the arena and made his way to her, staring at Verdi with pure disbelief before giving Evangeline a small curtsy.

"Yes my lady?" He asked.

"Open it up. I'm letting everyone go." She said as the angel nodded.

"Very good my lady." He said, focusing magic power as a portal appeared above him. As soon as it opened, an amorphous pink mass oozed forth in an unending tide, merging with the remaining biomass in the arena as the screams returned. Walking to the mass of screaming bodies, Evangeline shoved her arm into the fleshy growth and began channeling magic power, rewriting the mass on a cellular level as the faces embedded within them began changing.

Each face stretched upwards, as though they were some viscous fluid falling with the aid of gravity into a massive droplet. Before long, thousands of nondescript lumps formed in the sea of biomass as the pink flesh nodules began changing color to varying skin tones. It was a putrefying, horrific display as limbs, wings, and hair stretched out from each lump as the victims of Evangeline's terror regained their original forms. Before long, a man let out a barbaric yawp of joy, a barbarian of a man standing at Varrick's height and clad in thick hair akin to fur. Despite his appearance being pure virility and power, he looked haggard as he ran out of the arena, drinking in the air like booze. Another joined him, a dragonkin with olive skin and obsidian eyes. A minotaur emerged from the ooze. A wolf girl joined him as did an amazonian. Before long, species of both monster and human crawled out of the slime, each one spending their first moments sprinting as far as they could from Evangeline.

"F-freedom!"

"Finally!"

"God has answered our blessings!"

Before long, thousands of others joined them, sprinting out of the arena as the unending tide of meat continued spewing into the arena and reshaping into independent bodies. Millions of people spawned from within the primordial ooze and fled the arena in a mad dash for freedom, not fully comprehending just why they were being released or questioning the reasons behind it. All they knew was that the nightmare was over. Before long, the arena was a bustling hub of activity. After 30 minutes, the flowing meat slowed to a trickle before halting entirely, the population of Olskroya doubling in mere minutes as the last of Evangeline's lovers were reverted.

"Uh... Folks... It seems we've got..." During the chaos the harpy announcer tried to have some clever one liner to describe the situation, but the sheer insanity of the unending legion of nudists sprinting out from the mass of flesh was as strange as it was unnerving.

"Anyway, nice to meet you Evangeline." Verdi said, turning around and walking away, content to have gotten through the whole mess intact. Just when he thought he was in the clear, Evangeline snapped her fingers in realization, causing him to stop and look at her.

"Almost forgot Verdi. I thought I should give you a gift. Consider it my thanks for such a fun time." She said as he stopped to look at her.

"Gift?" Verdi asked as Evangeline grabbed him by the arm and dragged him to her. Before he could respond, she pulled him in close and gave him a kiss on the lips, her tongue oddly long as it snaked down his throat. At the same time, she used her free hand to reach down to his groan and grab his genitals, a moment of confusion in her eyes as she felt his inhuman size and shape in her hands. At that moment, Verdi felt a strange shifting at his groin as Evangeline's magic become active, the flesh reshaping underneath her corrupting touch. His theory that she wouldn't alter him was proven wrong as he felt something change in his body, his own lack of magic preventing him from resisting her spell.

Suddenly, Evangeline's grip weakened as a pair of knives flew into her arms, severing them at the elbow as a gray blur flew forward. Unsheathing his sword, Varrick swung his blade at Evangeline faster than the eye could perceive, the sheer power behind it enough to level mountains. Rather than dodge the attack, Evangeline shoved Verdi aside and took a step forward.

CLANG

Metal met bone as Evangeline caught the blade in her mouth, her teeth denting the blade as Varrick tried to break through her absurd strength. Despite having almost 2 feet of height on her and 100 pounds of muscle, the angel was immovable as she enhanced her weight with spirit power, her feet cracking the ground as she pushed Varrick back with nothing but her neck muscles. As she prepared to throw him across the arena, Fenri stormed forward, thrusting a knife at the angel's heart while Belsach appeared behind her, the hobgoblin no slower than the heroes as he thrusted a jagged dagger at her spine. Still keeping Varrick held in place with her teeth, Evangeline raised her left foot behind her.

In a single swift, motion, she caught Belsach's dagger between her toes while throwing Varrick to the side with her teeth, sending him hurtling towards Fenri. Just as the three of them were stunned, a pair of fireballs flew at Evangeline as Daria and Citrinas fired spells of their own, the pair burning the angel alive as her wings were set alight. A thick pillar of smoke rose from her body as the flames crackled on her flesh, her blood sizzling like water on a pan as her regeneration overwhelmed their offensive power. Despite her flesh literally falling off the bone, she seemed to relish in the pain. More importantly, she couldn't breathe as the oxygen around her was forcibly converted to carbon dioxide. Once again, she'd asphyxiate.

"Inventory." She spoke through burnt lips as a flood of nutrient broth coated her body, extinguishing the flames as her body regenerated. She flashed another toothy grin, her teeth stained black from her own burnt flesh as she stared them down. Everyone took a step backwards as the Collector licked her lips, smacking them as though she were enjoying a particularly tasty morsel. Her eyes fell on Verdi, the alchemist on the ground as her magic went haywire in him. Though she looked ready to snatch him up then and there, she shook her head and muttered something under her breath.

"Still not ripe yet." She muttered, her face somber before she smiled once more. "Anyhow, I'm off. Toodle loo! Have fun with the new toy dearie!" she said as Verdi felt his genitals change. He could feel them growing and reshaping with each passing second as he clutched desperately at his crotch, both his cocks leaving their sheaths as his testicles throbbed and expanded. Before they could burst from his pants, Fenri threw a cloak over him.

"Dum~ dum dee dum dum dum~" Evangeline hummed as she left the arena. Though she had thousands of openings as she turned her back to the party, none dared to attack her. Her angel attendant stopped to bow apologetically to the party before bowing to Verdi personally, silently ashamed of his mistress' antics before leaving the arena with her. Before long, the arena was barren once more, the only people being Verdi and the rest of his party. A cough was heard as the harpy announcer cleared his throat, speaking as though nothing had happened.

"And that concludes our spell caster event for day-"

"THAT CRAZY BITCH MUTATED MY COCK AND BALLS! I'M GONNA FUCKING KILL HER!" Verdi shouted, his voice overshadowing the announcer as every man in the audience winced as they heard of his injury. A puddle formed in front of him as he tried to calm himself down, his dual monster shafts dribbling precum as his supercharged testicles literally overflowed.

"Verdi, I told you not to mess around with her!" Citrinas scolded as her face blushed, Verdi's usual floral scent far more intense than usual.

"We warned you! We warned you every step of the way you dumbass! This is entirely on you!" Daria chimed in.

"DO YOU REALLY THINK NOW IS THE TIME TO GIVE ME A LECTURE!?" Verdi asked, learning his lesson as he clutched Fenri's cloak to hide his erect genitals. No more giving people the benefit of the doubt.

"Well, on the bright side she only got your junk." Fenri said, noting the growing stains in the cloak Verdi was clutching as the two shafts were on the verge of bursting out from the cloak.

"ONLY!?" Verdi exclaimed before grunting, another wave of transformation hitting his cocks. They were changing, but he was scared to open the cloak and see how monstrous his genitals had become.

"Let's just head to the bar and plan from there." Varrick said with a sigh, relieved that things turned out the way they did. The Collector's victims were freed, nobody died, and they still had a chance of getting their hands on first place prize to bait Tristiana. the only thing that went slightly awry were Verdi's genitals. A small price to pay all things considered.

Do they fix Verdi's body?
