With nothing better to do, you decide to return home. Well, it’s the dorm for the high school that allows families to live with their children. They are basically condos and not a traditional dorms. “Ouch!” You and Merry yelp. You jerk away and rub my hand.

“Mom, you got me killed,” she pouts.

“Sorry,” You don’t know what happened.

“Static shock?” she questions while starting up the game again.

You watch her play for a while and sometimes comment. But Merry mostly ignores you. It’s sad you used to be so close with your girls, but now they can’t wait to escape you!

“Where’s Tiffany?” you ask.

“I think she went out with her band friends?” Merry responds, unsure.

Alright. You pick up your phone and call Tiffany. She picks up and says, “mom, I told you just to text me.”

“Get with the times, mom. What did you call for?” she asks with exasperation.

You take a breath to settle down and say, “are you coming back for lunch?”

“No, we are treating the new marching band leaders,” Tiffany responds. As you are about to ask, she says, ”I should be back for dinner.”

“Alright, have fun, sweety.”

“Bye,” Tiffany states before hanging up.

“It’s just us for lunch,” you tell Merry.

“Yeah, I heard.”
