Mostly the truth.

"Well...mom..." Chloe started. "We went for a drive last night because we didn't want to wake you or step...David." She corrected. "When we parked and..."

"We went for a walk through the neighborhood hoping to get to the beach." Rachel chimed in. "But on the way we came across a skunk."

"Yes!" Victoria said. "It would have gotten me if Max hadn't seen it and tackled me behind a fence." She went along with the alternative story.

"Unfortunately we didn't see the one in the truck bed before it was to late." Max said. "It got everything."

"And your clothes?" Joyce asked.

"It sprayed us." Rachel said. "We ditched them in the truck and made the humiliating walk back. Managed to get all the tomato juice and ketchup out of the garage and washed off before the shower."

"Why doesn't the place smell like skunk if you went in to the garage?"

"Max managed to get hit the least so she went in." Victoria said.

"Right." Max nodded. "It was humiliating but we did clean ourselves."

"I will be more than happy to repay you for what we used." Victoria said eagerly. She wanted this conversation over.

"Hmm. So thats the truth?" Joyce eyed her daughter.

"Yeah."
