Chapter 54

What do you end up deciding?
Telling Hannah about the app
"There is one more detail to this that I left out," you started. "It's a little...far-fetched sounding, but I promise it'll all make sense."
"Alright, I'm all ears," Hannah said, obviously not ready for the nuclear bomb you were about to drop.
"So, I had this app that appeared randomly on my phone one day, in the middle of band practice. It explains everything, like when you said 'Just last year you couldn't talk to a girl that wasn't related to you besides Amy, and now you've got two of them chasing you'. It's called the 'Affection Multiplier App', and the gist of it is that it causes people's positive feelings towards me to grow at an increased rate," you explained.
The other side of the line went silent for a little while.
"I mean, that does make sense, with what you're telling me about Evelyn," she said, shockingly not that skeptical. "From what I remember with her, she didn't really seem to interact with you, and now in three days of being at the house with her, she's all over you."
"I wouldn't say _all _over," you revised.
"Give it a day or two, and if what you're saying is true, left unchecked, she will be all over you," Hannah claimed. "From what you've told me she did, she sounds like the type of girl who'll stop at nothing to get what she wants, and in this case, that something is you."
"Gosh, why did I have to get roped up into this," you complained.
"Anyways, go back to that app thing," Hannah said, getting back on-topic.
"Oh! Right," you exclaimed. "Anyways, not only does it make my relationships grow faster, but as I progress my relationships, it keeps track of them on these scores out of 150. Once I get one of those scores up to 150, I get that type of 'currency'. So like the first one is an affection score, and once it reaches 150 Affection, I get 150 Affection Points. There's this shop where I can trade them in for perks, like I got a perk called 'Great Athlete', which makes any athletic workouts that I do yield better results."
"Okay..." Hannah said, telling you to continue.
"I don't really know how much information about this I should divulge, but one of the traits is something that I can give to Amy to make her not jealous if anything happens with Evelyn, or anyone else for that matter."
"Okay, so assuming this whole app thing is real, I'd say use that as a last resort thing. At least, I would if I was in your situation. That way, you don't have to let Evelyn down, but if something arises with Amy getting jealous, then you have a failsafe. I would avoid buying it if you don't want to. I imagine this is why you haven't bought it yet, but changing someone's personality is...yeah.
"Right, I was originally thinking about it when I unlocked it, but then I thought that changing her would be a shitty thing to do. And I mean, this app itself is somewhat shitty to use, but in my defense, you can't multiply by zero."
"Does she know?"
"Huh?"
"Does Amy know about the app, and its powers?"
"Oh, yeah. I made an impulse purchase one time and gave her a trait where she doesn't need as much sleep, and then kinda had to explain it to her."
"Ah, gotcha."
The conversation dwindled after that, with more small talk. Hannah then said that she had to get back to her work.
"Alright, hey, thanks for talking with me about this, sis," you said. "I know it must be a lot to take in, but thanks for setting aside the time for me."
"Anytime," she responded nonchalantly. "Thanks for trusting me with this secret. I promise, it doesn't leave this conversation. Can't wait to see you when we come back over the winter!"
The call ended then, and you were left a little bewildered. The call with Hannah hadn't given you much new advice, but it felt like a weight was lifted off of your shoulders, since you were able to talk with someone about the conundrum that had been eating away at you for a while now. Well, a while meaning the last few hours, but it felt like a while.
Speaking of the Affection Multiplier...
New Profile Added - Hannah Stevens
Stevens, Hannah
Affection Score: 108 (+14) - I can keep your secrets
Love Score: 47 (+4) - You're the best brother I could ask for
Hannah feels closer to you after you shared your secret with her
That's basically what you expected from her, although you were a bit disappointed that you couldn't get her to the 150 point mark, and likely wouldn't be able to for a while now. Oh well, it was a long shot if you were able to.
You didn't really have any new ideas for what to do with Amy and Evelyn, but you did only have two days left here. One, counting the fact that you would be traveling back tomorrow sometime to resume classes on Thursday. That would be enough time to kick the can down the road, and then you could try to raise Summer's scores high enough to hopefully unlock a trait that would help out with the Amy/Evelyn situation.
Well, now that that's done, what now?
