Chapter 10
by Ashlight
What does Alice say?
"You realize I'm not made of gold, right?"
"Listen, you realize I'm not made of gold, right? Just because I'm the princess doesn't mean I walk around with jingling pockets. Forget the dangers of just casually carrying around a small fortune on my person, one thousand gold is a lot of money," Alice explained, "even if I wanted to buy your little trinket, I can't just waltz over to the treasurer and tell him I want gold, that's not how it works!"
"Well, I suppose that makes sense," Rosa replied with a frown. "But I'm not lowering my price, so if you want it, you'll have to get your money somehow. I figured you'd be the easiest to sell to, but I'm sure there are others who would want to dabble in something as awesome as this."
Alice hates to admit it, but she was right. Studying the arcane was a bit of a popular hobby among the rich and wealthy, the type who could splash away fortunes on ancient artifacts and books. None of them believed in it, of course, but it was a good way of showing that you were cultured and worldly. If she didn't buy it soon, then someone else with surely scoop it up. After all, Rosa had no reason to save it just for her. Still, how on earth was she supposed to gather that much gold within such a short amount of time?
The redhead saw that question in Alice's eyes and recognized it immediately. "Ah, if you want to make quick cash, I know just the-" she started, but was interrupted immediately.
"If your suggestion was for me to join you in selling our bodies, I will ask that you not finish the sentence," Alice huffs. The very idea was absurd! She was a high born royal, a crown princess. The mere thought of sharing a bed with a common man for a few coins was out of the question. Perhaps, if there was genuine feelings involved, then she might take the idea into consideration. After all, everyone liked cross-struck lovers well enough in fiction. But for money? Absolutely not. Despite her cynically outlook on life, she, like all maidens her age, wanted her first time to be romantic and gentle, not in some filthy bathroom with a man who paid for an hour of her time.
"Well, I was only going to suggest that you sell your body, I was just going to watch from the sidelines," Rosa jokes, but quickly waves her hands in apology when she saw the princess going for her dagger. "Sorry, that was in bad taste. But there are other jobs you know? One where you don't need to sleep with anyone, and they won't even compromise your identity either!"
"But they would still be lascivious in nature though," counters Alice. Though in that case, without the indignity of sex and with total anonymity, then perhaps with the right pay...
"Well, duh," Rosa replies. "No one makes that much money that quickly without putting out at least a little. But the pays not too bad, and all the tips go to you as well, so it really depends on your skills."
"I... see..." Alice murmured, mulling the matter over. "But what does the work actually entail? Because I'm failing to see how this can remain anonymous."
"Gloryholes!" Rosa shouts with glee, as though it was an invention on par with the wheel and baked bread. "You can do anything there. Handjobs, blowjobs, and even straight up sex! Hell, some of the weirder clients can request weirder stuff too, like using your feet and thighs. Anyways, the point is that you won't see the guy, and the guy won't see you. Simple, right?"
"I think we have very different definitions for simple," Alice mutters, but the idea dwelled in her head. Was it really so easy to earn money? Then why do so many women avoid these types of jobs? And was she seriously considering it? Her, a princess?
"Anyways, the spot is in the bathroom of this tavern, just head to the women's side, and you'll know what to do. I'll be here when you finish, so get that gold, girl!" Rosa giggled, pushing Alice out of her seat.
What does Alice opt to do?
