Chapter 16 by Stranger12 Stranger12

How do you respond to that?

Apologise for ignoring her warnings

"No, Xyl," you say quietly, "I'm sorry.

"I didn't listen to your warning. You told me it could be dangerous, that you could hurt me. I thought you were blowing the danger out of proportion, and ignored that you were the one who knew what you were talking about. You shouldn't blame yourself for my recklessness."

"I still feel awful about it," she says, "but OK. How about we both get some food down us?"

The two of you eat breakfast, during which Xyl declares that her plan for the morning is to make you something to wear.

=======

Soon after, she hangs from a long thread, several metres off the ground. A long string of silk stretches from her spinnerets, looping around several of her legs in complex ways. A sheet of smooth cloth quickly forms where beneath her as she weaves the silk together.

Over the course of the morning, the outfit comes together. It is a fairly simple blouse and skirt, designed to fit over your huge belly. Having nothing to dye it with, it is a plain grey, but being made of Arachne silk, it should be extremely tough, resist dirt, wash easily, and dry quickly, all very useful things in the wilds.

"We should probably get you a weapon and some armour as well," says Xyl, "but I am not sure how it could be made to deal with your changing proportions, and I have little to pay for it with. If you were a ****, we could head north, towards Xor, the Arachne capital, and I could hire you out to work for the smith for a few days, but that is not really an option. No one would accept that you are free..." she trails off, before shaking her head. "They would only make **** armour for you anyway."

She sighs. "We need money."

Where do you go next?
