Her Suit

"What are you talking about?" Kate asked incredulously. "You lured me out here just to ask a favour?"

"Well, it's an unusual favour so I thought a certain amount of privacy would be preferable." Safiyah replied gloatingly, as if she had won some great victory. "I need your bat-suit."

"My suit?" Kate asked. "Why"

"What do you mean, why? It's bulletproof and it protects you from just about anything, all without sacrificing mobility. You'd be surprised what something like that is worth."

"You want to sell my suit?" Kate was baffled. This was not how she saw tonight going. Though it did explain Safiyah's cocky attitude. She must know something Kate didn't. Doesn't matter, she's not getting the suit especially since...

"Of course not." Safiyah said. "That was just an example. Something like that would be much more useful in the hands of someone like... Tahani."

'Oh, hell no,' Kate thought. 'There's no way that bitch is getting my suit.'

"Right now, you're thinking there's no way Tahani's getting your suit." Safiyah predicted all to well as Tahani handed her a tablet. "But the thing is, I haven't told you the best part yet". She smiled her biggest smile yet as she offered the tablet to Kate.

Kate hesitated for a moment before taking it, the two of them were far too smug and arrogant for her liking. As though they had already won. Looking at the tablet she saw an apartment complex, her father's apartment.

"Is this live?" She asked quietly, trying to mask her panic.

"No, it's just an image" Safiyah replied. "But I do have a guy there. All ready to make you reconsider your refusal."

"You're bluffing"

"Maybe, are you willing to bet your father's life on that?" Kate was quiet for a moment and considered her options. She doubted that Safiyah was bluffing, she was fully prepared to hurt her dad to get what she wants. She could try overpowering the two of them and rushing to her dad's place but Safiyah had obviously put a lot of thought into this exchange, she most likely had a failsafe in mind. Kate didn't want to admit it but it was becoming more and more clear that she was beaten. "I didn't think so" Safiyah said triumphantly, seeing the defeat on Kate's face. "This is quite exciting, I've always wondered what you vigilante types wore under those suits."

Kate felt her heart jump up her throat at that last remark, as if things weren't bad enough, they'd get a whole lot worse when Safiyah and Tahani found out what she had underneath.
