Chapter 6

The Superpower
A Libromancer
Alex grabs a book from his pocket that really shouldn't have been able to fit inside.
"Right, my ability is pretty simple. Remember what I said about Idea Power?" Alex ask.
"Power of human's imagination and can be bad if left alone?" Amelia 'answers'.
"Yeah. Basically, I have the power to coalesce certain ideas into reality using books as a conduit." Alex explains before opening the book he has, a Harry Potter book, and putting his hand on a page. The page lights up as his hand sinks into it until his whole arm up to his elbow disappeared into the book. Then he pulls his hand back out and along with it comes a Wand.
"Since my power utilizes Idea Power, the more people think about certain things, the easier it is for me to create it. For example, it takes barely any power to create this wand because so many people read and watch Harry Potter but if I try to take something from my not that popular series, it'll require all my mana just for a simple sword. Of course, the more powerful something is, the more Mana it takes from me too so I can't just pull out something like the Infinity Stone despite its recent popularity."
"Woah." Amelia exclaim, focusing on the Wand. Then she blinks as another screen appears in front of her.
[A new skill has been created through continuous action.]
[Due to continuous observation, a new skill [Observe Lvl-1] is created. It shows the information of a target.]
[Oak Wood Wand
A wand created from the Idea Power gathered through the Harry Potter book. It contains the same power as a Harry Potter Wand.
Increase Magic Attack Power by a certain amount.
Reduce Mana Requirement by a certain amount.
The amount of increase and reduction is half if you aren't the owner of the wand]
"Huh, that's useful." Alex commented, looking over Amelia's new skill from the side. She hasn't disbanded the party yet so he can still see the prompts her ability gives her.
"I know right? Isn't my power awesome?!" Amelia boosts.
"I think it just means you played games too much. Now your life is literally like a game."
Amelia scoffs, "Like you're one to talk. With all those fanfics you've been writing, you got book powers."
"Not what I meant but you're not wrong. Remember when I talked about Gaia?" Alex ask.
"You mean the God that will smite you if you use power in the real world?"
"Yes. Gaia was created by the Gods that created the Abyss to watch over the world but for some reason, Gaia has been giving people powers. No one can figure out why she's doing it though."
"So we got our abilities from her?" Amelia ask.
"Yes and no. She gives people power but how those powers manifest depends on the person. For example, if a boxer receives power, they would probably get something that augments their punching power, a researcher would probably get some mental ability, a priest would get some type of light or holy power, and so on.
It's based on people's life experiences. Since you played games all your life, you got Gamer power and since I've been writing for most of my life, I got the Libromancer skill." Alex explain.
"Oh, so that's what you mean."
"Correct. Now," Alex put the Harry Potter book away and pulls out another book, or comic this time.
"How are you doing that?" Amelia asks before Alex can say anything else.
"Got rid of most of my pants pocket and sew some pouches from Pathfinder on them. They are basically bags of holding that can hide the aura of the content inside from even magic detection, at least until I open it. If I don't give the keyword though, it works as a basic pocket." Alex explains as he opens the comic and reaches inside it too before pulling out a weird-looking fully metal syringe.
"Give me your hand." Alex order.
Amelia did so while asking, "What's that?"
"You have an ability that tells you things. You should get into the habit of using it. It might just save your life one day. As for this, it's the Super Soldier Serum that made Captain America what he is. It'll boost your physical and mental power to the peak of normal human limit." Alex explains as he injects the serum into Amelia's arm.
"Ah!" She flinches from the pain of the needle but couldn't move due to Alex's strength.
"Warn a girl next time you're going to penetrate them." She complains.
"Deal with it. Pain will be the least of your worries if you plan to join the Abyss."
After injecting Amelia with the serum, Alex pulls it out of her arm.
"Now, you should- huh?" Before he can finish telling her that she might feel a little light-headed for a bit, a whole bunch of level-up screens popped in front of the two of them.
"Wow, that's a lot of levels." Amelia commented seeing the level-ups. Altogether, there were 12 of them. She quickly pulls up her Status Screen. Both of them can see that she went from level 3 before to level 15 right now. Despite that, her stats didn't change but she did get 60 stat points.
"Weird. When I used it, all it did was boost my power. This must be the result of it interacting with your ability." Alex deduces.
"That's awesome! Does this mean if I keep using the serum, I'll be able to cheat and become super strong super fast?!" Amelia wonder out loud.
"Unlikely. Try using observe on the syringe."
"Sure," Alex did just that and another screen popped up.
[Perfected Super Soldier Serum (Used)
The serum that was used to create Captain America. It was meant to create an army of Super Soldiers but after the **** of its creator, the process to create more serum was lost. Using it will increase any human's physical and mental to peak human level.
Increase anyone below level 15 to level 15]
"Damn, there go that idea." Amelia sighs in disappointment. She then realizes something. "Wait, did you not use this on yourself?"
"I did. I wouldn't have used it on you if I didn't already confirm that it worked."
"Huh? Then how come it says you're only level 5 above your head? The Serum says it boosts people to level 15." She asks, confused.
"Hm? So your ability is not all-powerful after all." Alex commented instead of answering.
"What are you talking about?" She asks again.
"Right," Alex grab his belt and pull it off.
"Woah, dude." Amelia puts her arm up as if to defend herself and back away, "You know I'm only into girls. Though, if it's you-"
Alex groans and interrupts her, "Not everyone is a pervert like you, Amelia. This belt was given to me by my Master. It's meant to hide my magical power after the whole mana factory incident. Check my level again now."
"Then say so from the start-" Amelia blushes in embarrassment only to turn into astonishment when she saw his level, "Wait, you're level 22?! I only got 10 XP by completing the quest for mom this morning and needed 3000 XP to level up now. How long would it take for me to reach that level?!"
Alex shrugs and puts his belt back on, "I got to this point after going through my Master's, and I quote here, "training from hell". I don't know how long it'll take for you to reach my level. Not unless you want to go through a month of ****."
"Um, no thanks. I rather stick to normal grinding. Speaking of which, didn't you say your job is to kill monsters? Do you think I'll get XP if I kill monsters?" Amelia ask.
"Maybe, we'll have to test that out later. For now, I'm going to teach you how to defend yourself."
