Betty's Ring of Truth

The street they were on was the one Jughead lived on. His nearly next-door neighbor saw them out of her living room window and immediately rushed out the door. "Archie! Jughead!" Betty Cooper cried.

"Hi, Betty! Look what clinked Archie on the head."

"Jughead!" Archie growled through his teeth. He whispered, "I could have given it to Ronnie as a present!"

"Then I'm giving it to Betty." Jughead didn't like Veronica Lodge and the feeling was mutual. She had a way of making frenemies.

"It's a ring!" the very pretty blonde cried when she was close enough to admire it. "And is that an amethyst in it? Ooh!" she squealed. "That's my birthstone!"

"Amethyst is a semi-precious gem," Jughead informed the clueless redhead.

"Semi-precious?" Veronica only wore precious things! He could hear her accusing him of thinking of her as only semi-precious. "Here, Bets!" he said, taking the ring out of his best guy pal's hand. "Happy Early Birthday!"

Betty nearly swooned with rapture as Archie personally slipped it on her finger. She wanted to imagine it to be an engagement ring. Better, a wedding ring!

Looking at the end of her hand, she declared, "I love it!"

She, then, kissed him. "And I love you, Archie!"

After the kiss, she remained hugging him.

It had an awkward moment of silence.

"And you love me, right, Archie?"
